Teachers, I am currently working on Truth and Reconciliation Week 2021. This year, we’re proud to announce that Every Child Matters is growing from a single day to a full week of Truth and Reconciliation programming. Last year’s unprecedented online event was attended by over 500,000 students, teachers, and general public attendees. Together, we can build on the success of Every Child Matters and continue the conversation on First Nations treaties, Métis and Inuit Land Claims, and the residential school system.

When?

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Truth and Reconciliation Week will take place virtually the week

of September 27 through October 1, 2021.

What can I expect?

The programming will feature short videos created by Indigenous storytellers, followed by conversations with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Survivors, and the children of Survivors of residential schools. The videos will be supported with classroom activities for students. Throughout the week we’ll share artistic and cultural performances by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists. There will also be a moving tribute to the Missing Children that never returned home from the residential schools.

Tentative Program:

Day 1 - Land and Treaties

Day 2 - Languages and Culture

Day 3 - Truth and Reconciliation

Day 4 - Orange Shirt Day

Day 5 - Elder-Youth Knowledge Transfer

Some of our program contributors include APTN, the National Film Board, Canada’s History, CBC Manitoba, Wapikoni Mobile, and the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba.

I am excited to announce that our company, Grey Sea Artist & Event Management Inc. will be part of the North American Indigenous Games family in Halifax in July 2020. We will be doing the event management for the NAIG Cultural Village on the Halifax Common which will include a beautiful combination of culture and sport, cultural demonstrations, an artisan marketplace, a main stage plus more announcements to come. We also will be producing the exciting Opening Ceremonies, stay tuned for lots of great announcements on that as well. I am so proud of our team working on this project who worked together on great projects like Grand Chief Membertou 400, Grand Pré 2017, Nimidiwin and many more. Our team includes Debra Ginnish, on all cultural components, Lori Laderoute on all things on the production side, Jennifer Stewart on event co-ordination, Garrett Gloade and Michael R. Denny on cultural activation and consulting on site in July and a few more on site event staff to come. Times are very exciting with Grey Sea, we currently are working with APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network), we are working on Sponsorship for the East Coast Music Awards, we are working with the Territory of Nunavut's Sealing Division and on our Artist Management side, we are working on a new swing Christmas album with John Gracie, building his Christmas Tour and other exciting tour dates. Samantha Gracie is working on a new comedy series and about to release a new single and Jay Mayne is working on new music! We are waiting to hear on new projects, so stay tuned, If you need more info on us please message me!
