This seems like the first year in a long time that the overwhelming Christmas/Holiday Season hasn’t completely bombarded the senses. Usually decorating or doing anything before Dec 1st was just crazy to me. Our family is notoriously last minuters, and the idea of travelling to 6 different houses gets closer and closer to the ‘not for me’ list. But this year, the idea of ‘more’ is everything.

More time, more food, more family, more friends, more crazy, more love.

Not sure if it’s because of having a new baby, and wanting him to experience family is so important, or the genocide and war currently thats shining a light on how fleeting life is.

Really wanting to spend this season being grateful and practicing letting go of all the things that don’t matter. Appreciating all the crazy people in our lives for the zest they add, the great stories they’re no doubtingly going to supply, the things we’re gonna break, food that’s gonna burn and not getting a present because someone screwed up the secret Santa draw. It’s life, and we’re so lucky to be here celebrating it.

Now don’t get me wrong, keep those boundaries, all for those. But letting go of everything that doesn’t serve us is a practice that will make even trying times, like the holidays, for some, much more enjoyable.
