This is just how I panel my cakes, other people may do it differently and thats ok too! Whatever works for you!

I roll out a piece of fondant maybe an inch more than the diameter of my cake. Cut off the excess with a shapr Xacto knife.
.
And roll out another piece of fondant long enough to wrap around the circumference of my cake but also high enough to leave an overhang at the top of my cake.
.
Make sure when you roll up your fondant it should have enough cornstarch on it so it doesnโt stick to itself. Cut off the seam and smooth them together. Smooth the rest of the cake eith a fondant smoother. I like to put mine down to make sure the fondant is touching the cake board and I trim it off after.
.
It will help if you out the cake in the freezer for about 5min to harden the top overhang so its essier to be trim but thatโs not necessary if your knife is very sharp. I usually donโt.
.
And thatโs it! It does take some practice, I myself gave up many times and went back to the regular sttetch and pull way. Eventually once I got better I found panelling waaaay easier and now I canโt go back! ๐

Have you ever wondered how marbled cookies are made? Itโs really not hard at all! Itโs one of my favourite ways to ice a cookie.

The consistency of the icing is a very important part. I made mine a little looser than flood icing, a bit less than 8s icing. So the icing smooths itself out really quickly, because you donโt want to be moving the icing after itโs been dipped.
.
I use a toothpick to dip some gel colour in the white icing and then off I go! The results are absolutely beautiful and different every time! If you run out of gel colour marble just add another dip with the toothpick!
.
I even painted the accent lines in gold to make it pop and I make these almost every year. โค๏ธ
