When it comes to planning out the morning, I will take more then just the length of time for makeup into consideration.
There Is set-up and pack up. The last thing a makeup artist wants is to be packing up still when the bride needs to leave. Ideally, the artist should be gone before the bride. If the bride needs to be done makeup at 2:30 to leave at 2:45, the makeup should actually be completed at 2:15. This will make for less stress in every way and give the artist time to get out the door, even snap some shots.
Make sure to eat snacks, charcuterie boards are best for nibbling. Let's not do it while makeup is being done though. Eating in the artists face is never an enjoyable experience for the artist ๐
๐especially when the makeup person has been up since 5am or earlier and probably starving. If you know your time for the makeup chair is approaching, that would be a good time to have a snack or after your application is done.
It's recommended to have exfoliated the night prior to the wedding. Doing good skin care pampering the night before will help the makeup look even better. Remember that makeup can cover redness and pigmentation but can not cover texture.
Remember to brush your teeth! I realize thats a no brainer, its shocking how often it happens. Fixing 6 lips 2 minutes before leaving because everyone didn't brush their teeth, just makes for one annoyed bride who's now waiting on her party.
Steaming the dress is a wedding morning must for everyone. It's even a great idea to have it done the night before. What's not great is finishing a full application and looking over to see her steaming dresses. If possible, it's best to have done this before getting your application.
Have reference photos ready of what you want. It's so important that the artist sees visually what she's being asked to do. This way, there's no chance of misunderstanding the level of glam or natural. Try to avoid pintrest images as they are not realistic and heavily edited. Look through the artists social pages and show a example of something that's been shared in the past.
Last but not least, enjoy your time in the chair, relax. If the client cannot sit still, always on the phone, looking around or behind to be apart of the conversation. Talking when doing lips, continues to open eyes when asking to close, and gets up more then once. My friend your shortening your time for the application. I will not allow anymore for uncooperative wedding party members to eat into the brides time or put me behind schedule. Your time in the chair is the same as everyone else.
