Mount Albert Sports Day & Spring Fair

🥳 Happy New Year 🥳

The Mount Albert Sports Day & Spring Fair Committee are in the midst of planning for the 100th event. 🎶 It’s the most wonderful time of the year! 🎶 We started in October!🎡

This year’s Fair kicks off on the June 6-8, 2025 weekend.

Committee Monthly meetings occur every second Tuesday of the month and take place upstairs at the Mount Albert Community Centre located at 53 Main Street.

The Committee welcomes anyone who is interested in knowing more about what the committee does to prepare for this huge community event (the only Spring Fair in EG)and who may also want to volunteer to help plan an event leading up to the weekend and/or volunteer during the fair weekend.

Specific event and Executive meetings occur frequently outside of these general monthly meetings.

⚾️Tuesday, January 14 – 7-9 PM (First general meeting is anticipated to take longer due to the many topics to decide upon and discuss)
⚾️Tuesday, February 11 – 7-9 PM
⚾️Tuesday, March 11 – 7-8:30 PM
⚾️Tuesday, April 8 – 7-8:30 PM
⚾️Tuesday, May 13 – 7-8:30 PM
⚾️Tuesday, June 3 – 7-9 PM (final meeting before the big day. To be confirmed)

Our special 100th anniversary event planned for June 6-8, 2025 is officially a go!!! 🎉

This is an update from the Town of East Gwillimbury regarding the Mount Albert Revitalization project:
" To accommodate the 100th anniversary of the Mount Albert Sports Day & Spring Fair, the project schedule prior to that weekend will limit construction to utility relocations and minor works. Any road/boulevard construction will be limited to Bank Street or minor works that can be restored or safely secured before the event. "

It’s taken me this long to decompress and to make time to fully reflect on the 99th Mount Albert Sports Day & Spring Fair weekend.

One month ago we were starting the cleanup from a fantastic fair weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect, with only some rain on Sunday morning. The bands & music rocked, the food was delicious, the drinks were cold (or hot, if you enjoyed coffee from the Snack bar), and the Cope Amusements midway and all events were well attended.
Our new Family Zone was buzzing with kids jumping in the bouncy castles, getting faces painted, colouring and doing crafts. The magician performed a fun show.
From the slo-pitch tournament to horseshoes to co****le to hockey to the soap box derby, sports were enjoyed and the competitive spirit embraced.
Contests such as the Pet Contests, Baking, Baby and spaghetti eating brought some more fun and competition into the fairgrounds.
The vendors market brought in many local businesses & community groups.
Local talent from Kicks Dance Studio and Karate showcased their skills and the Scouts coordinated the parking from the public school.
Shoutout to the stage company Actolive, our MC, and to the local bands who kept everyone entertained all weekend. There was a lot of singing & dancing & fun being had.

To the volunteers and the wonderful Mount Albert community. We could not do this without you and we appreciate you! ❤️

It takes 9 months of planning, and literally hundreds of volunteer hours, and a dedicated committee of 20+ volunteers to make this event happen every year. I could not be happier with all of your engagement, ideas and event executions. Thanks again for joining us at the Committee Appreciation get together. It was a great way to close off the 99th event year.

A Special thanks to the executive committee who stepped up in every way (before, during, and after), who responded to my daily, multiple emails and texts 🙂 and attended countless meetings. Devin, Neil and Karen, I am so grateful for such a solid, fun, committed team.

Look here for information about future committee meetings (in the early fall) as we prepare the plan for the 100th year celebrations.

Lots happening at the fair today! Don’t let the rain chase you away.
Come out and watch the Soap Box Derby races that take place on Main Street.
Family zone opens at 11-3. Free bouncy castles, crafts, tattoo, make up artist and magician.
The Baby Contest (registration at 2:30pm) and Pet Contest (10am registration) are also happening.
Think you can eat spaghetti fast and furious? Spaghetti eating contest at 2:30.
The vendors market will take place outside the front of the Community Centre and on Main.
Famous Mount Albert Fast Eddie Caesars will also be available for purchase starting at 11.
Music by Bethany McGillivray starts at 11 and by Mike Chianelli & the Lost Truck Drivers at 12:30. The day ends with music from the Twangsters.

The 21-year-old Mount Albert native has been climbing the North American Sportscar ranks over the past 5 years, and slowing down is not something the International race-winner has in his vocabulary.

Gavin won Nissan Micra Cup’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ title in 2020, and ended his Nissan Micra Cup maiden season ranking 4th in the Championship standings. He scored two wins in the opening season of the newly-formed Nissan Sentra Cup, as well as 4 pole positions.

Sanders is a proven professional, regardless of his youthful experience. His successes on the track and in the media have been the foundation to strong partnerships with major sponsors Motomaster, Simoniz, Pro Series OE+, Fat Bastard Burrito, and EmZone Products.

Gavin was Vice-Champion in the SRO GT4 America Silver class in 2022, picking up 10 podium finishes and 2 wins respectively. He also represented Fat Bastard and Canadian Tire Companies at the 2022 Honda Indy Toronto in the Sportscar Championship Canada, picking up another 2 wins in his first ever visit to the legendary city circuit.

For 2024, Sanders Motorsports has expanded to three TCA's respectively, adding Subaru of Mississauga as partners in the introduction of the Subaru BRZ TCA to Canadian Sportscar racing. Gavin is pursuing opportunities to compete in Canadian and American Sportscars, while focusing on the success of his growing motorsports operation, as well as completing his Bachelors of Business Administration - Automotive (BBAA) at Georgian College. “

We are 5 sleeps away from Fair weekend. The time has passed so quickly.

We will have Lexi the Rap Dad perform on stage on Saturday, June 1 at 1-2pm. The kiddies wouldn’t want to miss this! Please share the news.
