✨Cheryl Jameson (she/her)✨ is still shocked she is playing this incredible role, with such an exceptional group of performers at Nuova! ✨Gregory Caswell (he/him)✨ is an Edmontonian multi-disciplinary theatre artist. Recent performance highlights include Hedwig in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, Alex in Buyer and Cellar, Molina in Kiss of the Spider Woman, Cliff in Cabaret, and Mary Sunshine in CHICAGO. Gregory is also a cabaret/boylesque performer, improvisor and theatre instructor, and has extensive experience in film as a performer, writer, and director. He has been nominated for two Sterling Awards (2011 and 2023) and was named an Avenue Top 40 Under 40 for his contributions to the Edmonton theatre community in 2018. He is a graduate of the MacEwan Theatre Arts Program.

Introducing 2/4 performers that play Kaylee and Nick!

✨Sophie May Healey (she/they)✨ is a q***r, mixed-race writer and performer for the stage and screen. She holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta, and has trained in Paris at École Philippe Gaulier, as well as throughout Canada with Ghost River Theatre and One North Clown and Creation. She is so excited to celebrate q***r joy and community through this show. Select performance credits include White Christmas (NUOVA), Tales from the Hospital (NextGen Theatre), Helen (Trunk Theatre), All the Little Animals I Have Eaten (Shadow Theatre), The Sixth Meeting of the Extinction Club (Ghost River Theatre), Bakkhai (Bleviss Laboratory Theatre).

✨Stefan (he/him)✨ is a European-born actor based in Edmonton and is ecstatic to be making his Opera Nuova debut. He is a recent graduate of the Concordia University of Edmonton Management program, as well as a member of the 2021/22 Citadel Young Company. Selected credits include Patrick in Any Night, Jacob in Morning, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Fenris Ulf in Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and his upcoming role as King Dominik in Princess and the Pauper. Stefan is grateful to have the opportunity to learn and grow as an artist being surrounded by the amazingly talented team of The Prom.

Introducing 2/4 performers that play Shelby and Kevin!

✨Hannah Boulay (she/her)✨ This is Hannah’s second show with Opera Nuova, you may have seen her recently in White Christmas in the ensemble. As she finishes up her first year at Grant Macewan University, she anticipates a summer filled with theatre, music and dancing. Her past credits include, The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, Curtains, SpongeBob the Musical, Frozen Jr, The Curious Savage and many more. Hannah wants everyone watching to know that they are loved, valid and valued.

✨Benedict Magsambol (he/him)✨ This will be Benedict’s first show outside of High School and first production with Nuova. Past credits were his High School's production of Fame! the Musical (2021-2022) and Murder on the Orient Express (2022-2023). Benedict is originally from the U.S so this production will make him feel just right at home. Benedict is grateful to be given this opportunity and to share it with his fellow cast-mates and friends who have all worked hard to get to this point. Now Ben is ready to dress up, go to prom, and hit the dance floor with his favourite mamacita!

✨Daphne Charrois (she/her) is a proud q***r artist based in amiskwacîwâskahikan /Edmonton. She just returned after two contracts overseas as a Lead Vocalist on AIDA Cruises, where she performed everything from Musical Theatre to Queen, Abba, and classic hits. She is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Emma is an incredibly special role to Daphne, and she is honoured to share this story with you. She would especially like to send love to those in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. "I'm who I am, and I think that's worth fighting for"

✨ Bella King (she/her) is a theatre artist based out of amiskwacîwâskahikan / Edmonton, and a graduate of the Theatre Arts program at MacEwan University. 🎭About the Show: The Prom follows the story of four Broadway actors whose careers are on the decline. In a quest to revive their public image and find a new cause to champion, they decide to travel to a small town in Indiana to support Emma, a high school student who has been barred from bringing her girlfriend to the prom. As they attempt to bring attention to the issue, they face unexpected challenges and personal growth. The Prom celebrates the power of standing up for what’s right and being true to oneself.

Auditions will take place January 20th & 21st
Please email your interest to [email protected] with the subject line “The Prom Auditions” by January 17th with the following:

1. Indicate preferred audition date and the character(s) for which you would like to audition.
2. Please attach a current resume and headshot.
3. Pronouns; should you wish to disclose

For your auditions we ask you to prepare:
One contemporary musical theatre song
There will be a pianist at the auditions to play for you, or should you wish to bring in a track, there will be a speaker as well.
One comedic monologue, no longer than 2 minutes
*You may be given direction for one of your pieces in the auditions, or asked to read sides.
