Little October recap… a few days late. 🙈

Wrapped up our final wedding of the season, shot a handful of glorious engagement sessions, watched a bunch of sunrises and sunsets, kept our house pristine to sell it, many forest and neighbourhood walls with the kids, ate all the cozy soups, snuggled babies, edited while watching live play D&D, and snuggled the kids a load.

This season has been way more full than anticipated with the sale of our house and buying a new one. We’re pretty wiped, to be honest, but we’re plugging away and celebrating every win along the way.

We just wanted to send a note over to say thank you again, so much, for your work and support on Saturday. You both are incredible at what you do—you made us feel so at ease on what could have been (and was, at times) a very stressful day. You have a seemingly effortless ability to film vulnerable moments without prompting any self-consciousness, which we're so grateful for. Six years ago, we officially launched Bonsai Creative. We’d been filming weddings for a couple of years before that, but this was the plunge. These two knew they wanted to sneak out for a session in the evening, but told us they were up for anything. Since we were shooting with our buddy we put our heads together, brought some smoke bombs and got to create this. Did you know we love love love to shoot proposals? The sneakiness, the logistics, the unknown… it’s all so much fun!

Baby, it’s a good day.

Sunset celebrations hold a special spot in my heart. Jess and Sam’s ceremony was right at sunset with the best view, and damn, it was gorgeous! Plus, look at their sweet affection, it doesn’t get better than that 😍

When you’re married and it feels so good. ✨

The Notebook taught me that making out in the rain is the epitome of sexy. Jackie & Colin played, laughed, danced, splashed and made this one of our favourite sessions ever. If you want to do something unique with your session, we’re your guys.

Let me put it out there right now that if you want to get playful and creative with us, we are ALWAYS down. When Clara suggested they float on an air mattress on Conestoga lake for their engagement session we were pumped. I mean, how cool is this??

Happy wedding month!!! June is going to be the best month in well over a year! We are so lucky to be shooting seven weddings for each of these amazing couples (plus one more whose engagement session hasn’t happened yet!)! We cannot wait to celebrate with each of you! You’re about to step into the best part of your lives!

Rain doesn’t need to be a downer! This session got FULLY rained out and we’ve never been more grateful for weatherproof gear and a couple who is down for whatever. Trying to plan a wedding during pandemic might feel like a storm you can't get through. When the rain stops and the day comes, a rainbow is waiting. Sometimes you need to weather the storm to see the rainbow.

Take 30 seconds to breathe. We’re a little strapped for content to share, to be honest. Between filming only six weddings last year and lockdown continuing here in Ontario, it has been rare for us to be filming. We literally can’t wait for the weeks and months ahead as we celebrate with our amazing 2021 couples. We’ll get there, my friends. 🤞😬💛

We’re dying to travel and film again. Are we the only ones dreaming up trips to take when things reopen? This time last year we were in Kauai with no idea what the rest of the year was going to look like. Take us baaaaack. 🙈

How will you begin your vows? Jake caught us all by surprise with his formal greeting. 👋

No two films are the same, since we are eager to get to know our clients and tell their love story. We are always striving to create films that break through the surface beauty of a wedding day to show the personalities and histories of each couple. Offering full day documentary capture of weddings as well as proposals and engagements, we'd love to tell your story!

If you’re wondering about us, and not just what we do, we’re a husband-wife pair who really love to work together. We’re a mix of sensitive and particular, quirky and focused, and adventurous and careful. We live in small-town Elmira, Ontario and will happily travel throughout Canada for the right project.
