In celebration of Emma’s 21st birthday, we will be selling twenty-one $30 bouquets on Tuesday September 23, filled with some of Emma’s favourite flowers.

Emmas is a kind, strong and beautiful person from Grandview who is bravely battling an aggressive brain tumour/cancer. Despite having a major surgery and six weeks of intense radiation treatments, the tumour has continued to grow. She is now undergoing chemotherapy and travelling to the Mayo Clinic in the USA to explore further treatment options.

All proceeds from these sales will go toward Emma’s journey. If you would like to pre-order yours, let us know. 💐

If you would like to further make a donation to Emma please reach out to the page ‘Standing with Emma - Brain Tumour Awareness’ ♥️

“That Old September Feeling…”

Septembers bring change. First day, or beginning of the last year, of school, harvesting, taking pride in the bounty or kicking the swaths, knowing that the one thing we can count on is change. Six years ago I started this endeavour, not knowing where it would go. Four years ago I was expecting Etta, hoping for a mat leave and in walked Andrea. One year ago we said farewell to my Dad.

This past weekend we scattered his ashes as he wished, (mostly 😂) on the 4 corners of his favourite piece of land. And then we enjoyed the company of our family and friends we love. “…another Fall, another turned page: there was something in the jubilee of the annual autumnal beginning…” Thanks Wallace Stegner for capturing the essence of this time of year, and our namesake 😉.

This Thursday August 28 marks SIX years since we opened the doors to Old September in Gilbert Plains. Apparently the theme for a 6th anniversary is iron - symbolizing strength and durability. This past year has required both of those things in many aspects.

We missed celebrating 5 years (theme being wood - the ability to stand tall and weather many storms - which checked out hard!) Last year at this time, my dad was literally dying. After dropping him off at the hospital, my saint of a mom and her saint of a friend made a wedding cake and 200+ cupcakes that I can only say I helped with. Collectively, something we didn’t exactly sign up for, but we got the job done.

We sighed and said let’s never do that again. The wedding happened. My dad died. And shortly after, people started calling and requesting the cupcakes. We all laughed… and of course made them a few times over now. 😂

Stop by Thursday to try them out yourself! 💁‍♀️🤌 🧁

Big shout out to whoever generously put their own planters in this planter, the other two folks who also brought flowers, the neighbour down the street keeping an eye on my place, and the good people who tried to fix up my planter when it was kicked down (again) last night.

There might be a select few trying to ruin it for everyone, but the way our town rallies shows the good prevail. Peace and love! ✌️💗 😎

It seems as soon as August 1 comes, there is a shift. 🌾 The crickets sing their song like a warning that summer will come to an end before we know it. Wheat ripens, days are noticeably shorter, trees show signs of letting go… and this year, vandals decided that the flowers get a shorter season than we all anticipated. 💁‍♀️ 🙄

It’s a vibe 😎 😂
