There are so many beautiful little things popping up now. The papery poppies and the delicate anemones are coming. The rananculus are so close!! The buds are multiplying and will soon be opening. The tulip season is winding down now with just a week or so to go.
But the biggest project now is getting the dahlia tubers and seedlings in the ground. The rush is on.

So this is happening now. Anemones and ranunculus are starting to pop up. Tulips are all harvested and safely stored in ...

So this is happening now. Anemones and ranunculus are starting to pop up. Tulips are all harvested and safely stored in cold dormancy until they are needed. It takes about an hour to rehydrate them to continue on their life cycle to open into beautiful, strange, fabulous speciality tulips.

Year in review finally. Here's Nov and Dec. Each year ends kinda ugly. The flowers are gone. Spring bulbs are planted. We said bye to our indian runners ducks. You may see them down in the Oak Bay area. The hard work of digging and closing the farm down for the winter takes most of Nov and part of Dec. Dahlias are a huge job, we remove all the plastic from the high tunnels and store it away until March/April.

This year, I did slip away at the end Nov for a little girl trip South. A well needed rest before tackling the rest of the dahlia dividing.

Well, that's it for 2024. I had to end with a flower pic even though I did not grow them. We are now gearing up to do it all over again. Hello seed packages, dirt, corms, baby plants, grow lights, broken nails and one really tired out self!!

Year in review continues into June. The gardens really start to show off!! The ranunculus overshadow every other beautiful bloom. And there are so many beautiful blooms. Lilacs, Solomons Seal, allium, iris are abundant. Tulips start to wind down and peonies start to wind up.
Thousands of seedlings are planted out and taking off. High tunnels all have their plastic back on and are the ideal environment for heat loving annuals.
