Amazing People are what make a community like ours unique, strong and a pleasure to live in.
Last night we were able to recognize a lady who is a HUGE part of the Grand Marais Rec Centre family. She devotes numerous hours of her time and anytime shes asked to help there is no hesitation.
Thats why this year we are proud to present "Carol Laing" with
the Grand Marais Rec Centre 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award.
Without her and her tireless efforts I could not do my job as President.

Congratulations Carol,
We love you, and Thank You for all your hard work.

Ok Holidays are over and a NEW year has started so that means...
TUESDAY NIGHT JACKPOT BINGO IS BACK!

Doors OPEN at 5pm for DINNER as always

Monday evening it was my honor to award the first community service award to the West St Paul Lions Club.
They have been a HUGE supporters of the Grand Marais Rec Centre for
over 7 years for many events in our community.
They have marched in the annual Santa Claus Parade, helped with craft sales, pancake breakfasts, bingo and even Canada Day.

Our heartfelt Thanks go out to Patricia Wight (pictured) Jay (JJ) Doe and Peter Wight for there ongoing service and support.

Congratulations on a well deserved award.

It was -25 when I plowed the rink today and then East Beaches Fire & Rescue showed up and dumped another 8000 gallons of water on the rink (these folks are truly hard core).

Nets are out and it should be nice and set up for use.

And... one last post before the New Year.
With all the mild weather its been a challenge getting the ice rink in skatable shape, however a BIG job calls for BIG hands.
So... I called these guys, (Cole) from Morningwood Construction and Tom Thomas & his partner from (East Beaches Fire & Rescue) and with a pumper truck we were able to lay water and ice
(over 7000 gallons)
so it looks like it will be useable by January 1/2025. Thanks guys.

Unfortunately with all the mild weather we have not been able to build the ice rink yet, However temps are supposed to get colder sunday so we will try flooding it again and hopefully it won,t melt this time. Thanks
