Recently I have seen a sharp increase in couples inquiring with me after canceling contracts with an impulse photographer hire or hiring me to retake portraits because they were so disappointed with the photos they received from their wedding day. One of my (now) clients said in our consultation “I don’t know what is going on but all of my friends have wedding vendor horror stories and it’s making me nervous!”
With an influx in self employment popularity and increased attention on the wedding industry due to social media, there has been a flood of new to the industry vendors but also an increase in vendors who are interested in a quick pay check but not quality work.
To help you sort through the endless amount of wedding photography companies out there, here are 4 great tips!
* Ask for Recommendations: Seek recommendations from friends, family, or wedding planners who have had positive experiences with photographers. Personal referrals can often lead you to talented professionals who have a proven track record of capturing beautiful wedding moments.
* Review Portfolios Carefully: Take the time to thoroughly review the portfolios (and full galleries!!!!!) of potential photographers. Look for consistency in style, composition, and quality of work. Pay attention to how they capture emotions, details, and the overall atmosphere of weddings. This will help you gauge if their aesthetic aligns with your vision for your special day.
* Meet in Person or Virtually: Schedule meetings with potential photographers to discuss your vision, preferences, and any specific requests you may have. This personal connection allows you to gauge their personality, professionalism, and communication style. A good rapport with your photographer is essential for a smooth and enjoyable wedding photography experience.
