Hello friends - Well one week today we will gather together as a powerful community of women. I am so excited to be in your company for this special time together.

I wanted to share a little bit about me, and my why of bringing this conference forward to you. I am a mom, passionate about her community, and believe with all my heart that love prevails. Our world is so cold and chaotic and confusing, for us to support our families and loved ones and our communities near and far, we must be be in touch and most importantly in love with ourselves. This is a process, and not an easy one. At the root of loving ourselves we must be aware of the stories that run us - which stories are positive and what stories are negative? Can we release the ones that do not serve us, our families, and our communities? The team at CMHA - Helen and Alison and Karen Fitzpatrick will help us with that.

Meditations will be rooted between our speakers for grounding. It has been proven there is a healing power that is cultivated when meditation is done in a group setting. Each attendee will receive a journal for your own private reflection as our speakers guide us. And there will be lots of other treats in your goodie bag!

I know leaving your families on a Sunday is not easy... this is an investment in YOU!! Self care of its highest power. If you have not purchased your ticket and are on the fence... ✨SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT✨

Introducing Helen Fishburn, MSW! A true leader in Guelph, who will provide great insight as we dive deeper into important topics this October 22nd.

For over 25 years, Helen Fishburn has worked in numerous roles in the mental health and addictions field, including various leadership roles for the past 20 years with the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington (CMHA WW). Helen holds a Masters in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. Helen feels honoured to be the Chief Executive Officer of CMHA WW as it allows her to drive health care system change forward while overseeing care for people of all ages with complex needs. The creation and implementation of Here 24/7, a coordinated access centre for all mental health, addictions and crisis services in Waterloo Wellington, and the IMPACT police crisis program are some of the defining achievements in Helen’s career.

We are very excited to hear from Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik! She was featured in Guelph Today about the October 22nd conference last week.

Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik is a Family Physician and regional HIV specialist. She is the founder of ARCH clinic Guelph and Waterloo, two provincially funded HIV/AIDS clinics. Dr. Zajdlik is the founder of Bracelet of Hope, a charitable community-based organization that raises awareness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa and funds for HIV/AIDS relief in Lesotho, Africa. She is a previous board member of the Ontario Hospital Association’s OHAfrica project and member of the OHAfrica Canadian Medical Team that helped open the first HIV/AIDS clinic in Lesotho in 2004.

Throwback Thursday to University of Guelph's faculty spotlight of Dr. Robin Milhausen! We are very excited to hear from this expert at the conference on October 22.

Dr. Robin Milhausen's research is highly cited, and she is a co-author of one of the top s*xuality textbooks in the country. Through her work as an educator and therapist, Robin aims to help people feel more comfortable and satisfied with their s*xuality and more fulfilled in their lives and relationships. Robin completed her PhD in Applied Health Science with a minor in Human Sexuality from the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University.
