1- Grateful to he hired for the third time (‼️) by world-renowned designer ⭐️Ozlem M. Manness⭐️, for her adorable daughter's birthday. Oz owns 'House of Moda🌠', Halifax's premier jewelry and accessory/apparel store.🤗💎 Even with her amazing, sought-after creations worn at the Oscars🏆, and by A-list celebs like Beyoncé☺️, Oz always loves taking part in the simple fun of a Magic Show. (See pics!)🥰

2- A Mom in Chester offered a choice to her son and daughter for their combined birthday party: A Limo Ride🧐, OR a Magic Show🎩🪄. The boy wanted the Limo, the girl requested Mr. J. Luckily, (with their Mom casting the deciding vote😉), Magic won out!🐰🕊❤️ Knowing the boy's preference, brought every bit of energy💪🔥that a Magician could muster, while showcasing him and his sister as the special stars of the show.🌠 Afterwards, asked the livened up-lad if he had any regrets about going with the Magic Show. The pure, unbridled excitement on his face said it all.🥰🥳🎊😀🤗

A Prime Minister steps down; a President is certified. Riots are remembered, Christmas memories never forgotten. (Fun fact: It's also my cousin Kenny Dolomont's birthday...a lifelong hero, and Big Brother!)🤗

HOWEVER❗️, the most personally impactful news for Your Magic Friend Mr. J is...*sniff*🥲 it MIGHT😌 (maybe)😪 now be time...to START...taking down decorations!😭😵‍💫😋

You know, this all hit home when performing Magic for longtime dear friend ⭐️Jamie Dean⭐️, who generously hosts a huge free public Christmas Party at 'Dean & Son's Auto', his shop for over 30 years. 🧰🚗🔧The hardest working man in town, Jamie Dean is an honest mechanic (how about THAT!)❗️ who has supported and helped thousands over the years...including yours truly. Huge respect, profoundly grateful.🙏 Fun fact: Mr. J's first EVER paid kids birthday (February 5th, 2001) was for Jamie's own son, Jaeger Dean.🎂🎩🪄🐰🕊 Five thousand shows later, t'was an honour to entertain at Jamie's annual Holiday Hootenanny. 🌠🥳🎊

What to get someone who has given so much? Gifted his family a custom personalized 'DEAN-opoly' board game, featuring taped-on highlights of 'Team Dean' over the years. (Please don't tell Hasbro that Mr. J made a makeshift Monopoly...even though with all of Jamie's friends, it would fly off the shelves).🤫🤫😉

Always a swingin' shindig.🎉 Like George Bailey in 'It's A Wonderful Life'...beloved owner Jamie Dean is truly 'The Richest Man in Town'.😃🤗🥰

Whither the so-called 'billionaires?'🤔❓️ Let Musk fly to Mars...have fun (I hear the atmosphere's not that great). Poor ole' Steve Jobs had lots o' dough, but it couldn't save him from cancer. All Jeff Besos' bucks couldn't even save his marriage, (or his HAIR!) 😋

IMAGINE if ⭐️YOU⭐️ literally (really) BECAME your hero!🥰😮❗️

A WEIRD, crazy story for you...in which this actually happened.😃

Not just because beloved late mentalist/entertainer 'The Amazing Kreskin' (1935-2024) was a HUGE personal inspiration for my Magic career (Fun facts: 'The Amazing' Mr. J stage name is a nod to Kreskin, just as 'Mr. J' is a nod to my heroic Dad!).❤️

Not just because Kreskin's super-positive, over-the-top, joy-filled presentation style influences my life perspective every day.🤗

Not just because Kreskin always kept Christmas well, annually sending out THOUSANDS of custom-designed Christmas cards (at personal expense), to many he met during his nearly 60 years of radio, TV, and stage appearances (a tradition I try modestly to uphold each year, mailing 150 cards. When the postal strike resolves, you can bet yours will be on its way!)🎅🤶🎄

In processing my personal hero's passing today at 89😪, plus in keeping in tune with Kreskin's upbeat essence, let me quickly recount "The Day I was Actually Mistaken for Kreskin"😋:

Niagara Falls Comic Con, 2018. 'The Amazing Kreskin' was scheduled to appear for a 'celebrity meet-and-greet'.📷🤝🌠 Had previously met Kreskin twice, and thoroughly enjoyed each encounter. The legendary star even kindly gifted me his personal card, asking me to keep in touch. As a huge fan, this latest event was another chance to thank Kreskin in person, for his career inspiration. So, dressed in my traditional tux🤵‍♂ (in prep for the photo op), and carrying a giant 'Kreskin' advertising sign obtained following his Halifax appearance, I awaited in the general area of where the program said he would be at 2:00pm. Around 1:45pm, with no Kreskin yet (but also strangely no line forming), a large, young security guard stormed up to me: "Hey! We've been lookin' for you!" (?!) "Follow me!" continued the bellowing guard, quickly ushering me over to a table across the arena. (Had no idea what was happening, thought I was in trouble for something...) 😵‍💫😲🤔❓️

"OK- Sit there! I'll be right back!" insisted the security officer.👮‍♂️ At this point, I noticed there was a large line behind a curtain, just beyond the table where the guard directed me to sit. It's now almost 2:00pm. (What's going on here?) As you may have guessed, with the guard being young, he saw yours truly dressed in a tux, carrying a large sign, and looking around...he thought I WAS actually the real Kreskin. Beyond the curtain, voices were heard: "He's here! He's here! I just saw a guard bring him in!" (!!)🫢

Apparently, (I learned later), the REAL Kreskin had flight issues🛩✈️, and "likely couldn't make it", but informed he powers-that-be that he was "still going to try" and be there. In the meantime, someone from the event staff presented me with some bottled water and markers, saying with adulation🤩: "Glad you made it after all, Mr. Kreskin, Sir. We're ready to let folks in...is there anything else you need, Sir?" (!!!!)😅🤣❗️❗️

At this point, the mistaken identity snafu dawned on me.🙃 (Was just feeling relieved I wasn't in trouble with the guard). ☺️

Just as the first few people in line came in, I confessed..."Ummm, listen...you see...um...I'm...not actually...Kreskin..." to the now red-faced team.🫠😉

In hindsight, maybe I should have played along? 😜Keeping my head down, maybe I could have signed a few autographs, and fooled some of the people in line, who WOULD know EXACTLY what Kreskin really looked like...(twice my age). 🤪"Gee, 'Kreskin'...you're looking younger today..." But then, what if I carried on the charade, and then the REAL Kreskin then showed up late...seeing me signing his name and playing him?!🤭

As it happened, the Real McCoy wasn't able to make it. But it was a blast to get the Kreskin-treatment, if only for a few minutes.🥰

It's sad to lose a hero.😪 But joyous to know our heroes live on, and (sometimes), we can become a version of them.🙂🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

To quote one of Kreskin's famous TV sign-offs:
"May you live 5 minutes longer than me. Just 5 minutes, no more, no less. For I intend to live FOREVER".🌠❤️

⭐️Spoons⭐️Men Without Hats⭐️A Flock of Seagulls⭐️Honeymoon Suite⭐️

Billed as "The 80s Club", this was their (very emotional) final show, of their Canadian Tour.🇨🇦 Hugs and sentiments all around.🥲

Pure JOY.❤️🎵🎶 What a time-trip.🥰 Many stage references to MuchMusic, and the dawning glory days of music videos. An ethereal experience for this nostalgia nut.🤗

Luckily met all the band members too.🥳🤝🎊The coolest, most humble and fun-loving folks you could imagine. ☺️

Like your favourite songs from yesteryear, amazing how BALLOON🎈gifts can also turn back time, transforming retro rockers into feeling like kids again. You can sense it instantly; you can see the happiness in people's eyes. Honeymoon Suite's Johnny Dee lit right up, exclaiming: "Oh, Yeah! I'll take the BIKE!"🏍😅

On this Remembrance Day, Dear Friends, let me humbly recommended to you the books📚 of retired Canadian General, and humanitarian activist, Roméo Dallaire.🫡

Emotionally, you will find these very challenging reads. But also, infinitely important. You will gain heretofore unknown depths of perception, including deeper levels of empathy, gratitude, and resolve. These books will stick with you forever (as Gen. Dallaire's personal journey has with him).

Ultimately, our ongoing honouring, talking with, and reading about our Vets🫡, serves as a profound realization of the precious frailty of Life, while enriching our collective consciousness and relationship with the whole of humanity.

UNEXPECTED, Out-of-the-Blue Kindness.🤗

Just received this wonderful message, six months to the day after a Magic Birthday Show performed last April.🎩🪄🐰🕊❤️

After a full weekend of Magic Shows on the road (see pics of those super-fun groups attached!), you would think one would be exhausted...but naaaah!☺️ It's amazing how a random thoughtful message takes away your tiredness.💪🙃😃

Talk about Magic.🌠
Would that we all take a moment to share such words with those whose awesomeness we appreciate.❤️👍

"Hi Mr. J,

It has been half a year since you came to our place in Wolfville to celebrate our daughter, Izumi’s 10th birthday on April 21st, 2024. My apologies for taking so so so long to send this message to you. (I bet 99.99% people would send you a thank you note right away.)

Firstly, thank you so much again for your wonderful performance that made her milestone 10th birthday something special she will remember for the rest of her life. Everyone, both the kids and the adults, enjoyed your show and were talking about it even in the following week. You were so entertaining and brilliant with kids.

Michael and I were wondering if our daughter Izumi had any idea that you were coming to the party, as we wanted to make it a total surprise to her, since she requested a surprise as her gift. She told me later that until she saw you, she was panicking a bit as she didn’t know what activities the kids were going to do at the party. Every year we set a theme and did home-made activities related to it, but this year she wasn’t involved in it, kept in dark. I told her that this year’s theme will be a Magic.

When she saw you arriving at the door, she was like “I know this person, he’s Mr. J!, but what is he doing here…?, wait, what!, really!?”. So, she had absolutely no idea, which made your presence a perfect gift for her.

Another funny thing was, you picked one boy to work with Izumi at the beginning of the show, and he was actually someone she really liked. You were teasing them, saying like “Are you like a boy friend and a girl friend?”, which they were denying, but Michael and I smiled to each other.

I am not sure if you still remember there was an adult Japanese girl from Osaka at the party, to whom you also handed a gift. She told me that when she was in Lunenburg this summer she saw you performing there!

Lastly, I think your brother’s bar is “Shaka Bar” in Nipponbashi, Osaka, and his name is Chris? Next time we are in Japan, we would definitely like to visit the bar.

RIP😪 and thanks❤️ to ⭐️MIKE BULLARD⭐️, for his pioneering Canadian🇨🇦 late night talk show, his hilarious audience-interactive comedy, and especially for putting up with yours truly‼️, during my admittedly absurd appearance on his CTV show.😅

Did you also watch Mike's show, Friends?⭐️🤔❓️

Y'know, as a schoolteacher👨‍🏫 back in 1999, (juuuuust about to embark on a new career as a Magician/Entertainer)❤️🎩🪄🐰🕊, I drove 19 hours from Nova Scotia, JUST to see and experience Mike live.🌠

Why🤔❓️His amazing spontaneous finesse with a live crowd helped inspire me to pursue an entertainment career.🎭 Grateful to have had the chance to tell him so, personally.🥰

Literally making the random LIVE audience his 'material' every night, and taking live phone calls on-air, Mike regularly walked an exciting comedy tightrope on national television.

If you personally remember tuning in to 'Open Mike with Mike Bullard' (1997-2003, on CTV) and 'The Mike Bullard Show' (2003-2004, on Global), you regularly saw a much funnier show than its American counterparts Leno, Letterman, and the rest (Within our wonderful Canada🇨🇦, Mike actually beat those U.S. juggernaut shows in the ratings!)‼️

After some down years and personal turmoil, Mike finally seemed poised to make a comeback...recently touring extensively in Ukraine for several months on humanitarian missions. The Man was only 67😪, and was performing live stand up as recently as last week.🥲

⭐️FUN FACT⭐️: Six years after this ridiculous 1999 TV appearance, a girl I had just started dating mentioned Mike Bullard, and how she remembered "seeing some guy on there years ago, who drove from Nova Scotia to be on the show...he made our whole family laugh." After I realized she was (coincidentally, and unknowingly!) talking about me, I showed her the video you see here. She burst out: "OMG!! That was YOU??! I saw you on TV six years ago! You were that crazy guy on Mike Bullard??"😅‼️

Seems you never know in Life how you are remembered. May we all move forward knowing we all can create positive ripples in the Universe. ❤️💫🌠

Just like when Mike himself walked out on stage, interacting with random people on national television...you just know:

Well, enter 'TREAT ACCESSIBLY', a special annual event for an entire (September!) afternoon, when this hard-working Halifax community of volunteers go all out with Hallowe'en decorations, spooky treats and costumed fun...to make these special needs children's world a little brighter.❤️❤️

This Canadian Tire sponsored event runs nationwide, and it's always profound honour for ole Mr. J to perform Magic🎩🪄🐰🕊🌠, and create balloons🎈⭐️ for everyone, every year.👍
