Well another wedding season has come to an end and I simply couldn’t have done it with out my team! Pictured here (L-R) are:
Shatakshi, my new assistant who you may have seen double checking seating plans and putting out place cards. She was such a big help this summer!

Next is my long-time associate Kayla who assists me whenever Shes available. She is experienced and efficient and I’m so happy she’s still on the team!

On the far right is Josie, only with me for a few years but Kayla and I assisted with her 2018 wedding and now she’s helping us!

New to the team this year is April Powers. April is our first associate in Cape Breton and brings a wealth of wedding and event experience to the team. She will be the main associate for any Cape Breton weddings.

Also not pictured but new to the team this year is Michael Kabalen (AKA ). He is also a former client, and colleague and now has joined the team as our fourth associate planner! If you are in need of a DJ he does that too!

This the most number of associates I’ve ever had on my team in my two decades of doing this! I am looking forward to planning many more weddings with you all and servicing more clients than ever before!

Simply Weddings is offering mini wedding ceremony packages on select Sundays in 2022. Most of the work has been done for you! Venues, flowers, photographer and officiant are all coordinated. All you need to do is show up looking fabulous with your wedding rings and marriage license. We will handle the rest!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce to you the two other Simply Weddings Associates who assist me with weddings when I am already booked. Kayla (pictured on the right) joined me in 2014 and has numerous weddings under her belt since that time. I assisted Josie (pictured on the left) with her wedding in 2017 and she loved wedding planning
so much she wanted to continue working with me! They are both great assets to the Simply Weddings team and we all look forward to helping you with your 2022 and 2023 weddings!

Kayla in her own words: Hi! I’m Kayla! I moved to Halifax and joined Simply Weddings right away in 2014, after graduating from Holland College with an Event Coordinating Management Diploma. I have a
calling for organization, the little details and bringing a calmness to what can be a beautiful but also stressful day. I love to utilize those gifts and think it’s important to build genuine relationships to help couples navigate throughout the wedding planning process! I will laugh with you and usually cry happy tears during every ceremony while you marry your best friend! My favorite part of weddings is the moment the couples see each other for the first time!

Josie in her own words: Hi, I’m Josie. A 30-year-old mom of two beautiful babies who grew up in the small town of Digby, Nova Scotia. Between perusing bridal magazines when I was a child and watching all of the wedding shows that the TLC channel had to offer, wedding planning has been a passion of

It’s time we show the guys some love! They’re looking pretty fine in their suits from ! John Requa has been in the men’s clothing business for 40 years. His suits feature beautiful fabrics and linings that are fully customizable. He certainly made these two look fabulous!

When my client approached me about doing weddings at their gorgeous property in Edgerton, NS, I immediately suggested a photo shoot to give them professional photos to use on their website and social media accounts. Throwback Thursday – To Bespoke 2017!
Four years ago, on April 9, 2017 I held the Bespoke Wedding Event () at the . This was the third installment of the event and the theme that year was gemstones and precious metals. The concept of the event was to allow wedding designers to create a mini wedding space that attendees could walk through, and experience fully, complete with live models in wedding dresses, wedding cakes, wedding stationery and live musicians. Wedding decorator and planner extraordinaire Stephanie Brown of designed this table based around her gemstone inspiration – amethyst. I love how this turned out with the details of the succulents, the geode, the menu and the signature purple drinks! What exactly was that drink made of Steph??

Let’s talk about planning a wedding during a pandemic! Never mind having a rain plan, these days you
need to have a multi-dimensional Covid wedding plan! There’s so much to consider…
• Guest lists for 50/100/150 people for your wedding!
• Signage and sanitizers!
• Masking and dancing!
• To buffet or not buffet!
• Can you have a tented backyard wedding?
The regulations keep changing and it’s difficult to stay on top of it all. That’s where hiring a pro wedding
planner can be useful. It’s our responsibility to stay on top of these changing regulations and to make

Hello all! I think it’s time I re-introduced myself as I have been absent from here while working on several other projects. Hi! I’m Claudia Habib, the owner, and main wedding planner at Simply Weddings, a wedding planning service I started back in 2003.

From 2007 – 2017 I also worked as a corporate event planner for another
company, so I bring a lot of that experience to the table. I have been quite involved in the meetings and conventions world, including being a past president of MPI Atlantic ( ) and winning their Planner of the Year award in 2015.

In 2015, I decided I needed another challenge, so I created a unique wedding event called Bespoke: The Wedding Event. I produced this event for three years and you can check it out here .

In 2018, I started Claudia Habib Events to focus on the corporate market (). Well as we all know, Covid-19 has put a huge damper on in-person conferences and events this year, so there
hasn’t been much happening on that front lately.

In March of last year, I was approached to be the Venue Manager of the still-unfinished Cedar Event Centre () which was very appealing to me as I had never worked on the venue side of things. I started working for them part-time and then the world went into lockdown!

The latest project that’s keeping me busy falls under my Venue Manager responsibilities. We decided to see if there was interest in starting a mid-week, evening farmers’ market. Based on feedback from the community, we are bringing the Clayton Park Farmers’ Market to Halifax on May 12. Follow us here for
