Happy Canada Day to all

Canada Day encourages a sense of national identity and unity among Canadians. It “is a day to reflect on the values of diversity, inclusivity, and multiculturalism that define Canada. The iconic maple leaf symbol, displayed prominently on flags and clothing, represents national pride.”

It is a day to reflect on what it means to be Canadian, to share what makes us proud and to celebrate in our own way. “This pride is reflected in as many ways as there are Canadians. Canada Day highlights the richness of our land, our diversity, our culture, our contributions, but above all, our people.”

We learn a lot. Because Canada Day offers a reminder that “the narrative of Canada's history must include the experiences, perspectives, and voices of Indigenous peoples. By acknowledging their historical connection to the land and embracing the richness of Indigenous cultures, Canadians can foster a more inclusive and just society.”

It is all too clear that we need a healthy ocean for a healthy climate, and vice versa, and we need significantly stronger local, national, and international action from both government and corporate leaders”

We know that climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss are jeopardizing the long-term health and sustainability of our oceans, making this year's UN theme 'Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean and Climate' even more important.
