A few questions with our wedding content creator - Zoë ✨

What do you do as a wedding content creator?

First of all, I am NOT a photographer or videographer but rather work along side these professionals. I capture the behind-the-scenes, raw, and unfiltered moments of your special day, creating a personal documentary of your celebration! I deliver all the content within 24 hours of your wedding, allowing you to relive those precious moments almost instantly. I also create a highlight reel of the day that is sent to you within 72hours, that you can share with your family and friends. This way, couples, family, and friends can be fully present, knowing every important detail is being documented.

What inspired you to become a wedding content creator?

When I got married a few years ago I loved the little videos that family and friends took during the day and behind the scenes. Some of these I had no idea were being taken, which makes them so special and real. I didn't have too many because we were so focused on the day and I wanted an unplugged ceremony. If I were to do it again I would have hired a content creator to capture all the moments because the day goes by soooo fast and there are so many moments you miss or forget about.

What equipment do you use?

I capture everything on an iPhone! I also bring charger packs, charging cords, tripods, lights (which I occasionally use) and a gimble for certain shots.

What do you do outside of Otium?

I am a personal trainer at Evolve Fitness, love staying active and being on my feet. I am also a true homebody at heart and enjoy spending time with my husband Will, my daughter and two cats. Since getting married and having my daughter I’ve realized the importance of capturing special life moments in a raw, unfiltered, fly on the wall kind of way.

The face behind Otium - Christine 💍✨

What inspired you to join the wedding industry?

I've always loved event planning- it started with my high school dance committee (and if we go back further, it really started with my mom planning many unique themed birthday parties for me, special shoutout to the backwards party!) and the more events I'm involved in the more I learn, and the more I want to learn!

Can you share your favorite wedding memory or experience?

One of my first wedding coordinations, I had a moment where I was standing near the dance floor, watching the couple enjoy their night, and had a moment of "wow, I'm doing my dream job right now", which was pretty special. But the other part that never gets old is hearing from couples how I helped make their day perfect.

What do you love most about coordinating weddings?

I love seeing weddings that highlight a couple's unique interests and stories, and how they bring their personalities and interests into their wedding day in creative ways. And I love solving problems before the couple even knows there was an issue.

How do you handle challenges on a wedding day?

With a smile :)

What is your dream wedding style or theme?

I love so many different ones, it's hard to pick! I love when couples incorporate their pets, and I would love to put together a coffee-inspired wedding with a palette of browns and creams.

What advice would you give to couples planning their weddings?

Don't forget that if there's a tradition you don't love, you can just leave it out of your day! More and more people are foregoing traditions that don't suit them and I love that that's happening.

What's something fun or surprising about you that people might not know?

I can solve a Rubik's cube in under 2 minutes!

We asked Tammi a few questions to help you get to know her and her coordination style better ✨💍

What do you love most about coordinating weddings?

"Helping to alleviate any stress or concern  for the bride and groom so they can relax and enjoy their day to the fullest.  I love getting to know the couple in the months prior to the wedding and being able to witness one of the happiest days of their lives."

How do you handle challenges on a wedding day? 

"I am a calm person by nature which certainly helps and my 23 years as an executive assistant have taught me that the more prepared/proactive you are for unforeseen circumstances, the better. When issues arise during the wedding day, there is always a solution and often the couple isn't even aware of it as it has already been resolved.  That’s the beauty of having a wedding coordinator."

What advice would you give to those couples planning their wedding?

"Don’t stress about the small things and understand that as much as you can plan every single moment, things may not always turn out as planned and that is 100% ok! Don’t put all that pressure on yourself. It will still be an incredible day…one that you’ll remember forever."

Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests? 

"Spending time with my husband, traveling, salsa dancing and being a volunteer dog walker with Elderdog."

"Otium Wedding & Events- and more specially, Christine, did a fantastic job at our wedding! I could not recommend her more. Leading up to the wedding, Christine gave multiple vendor recommendations, helped us with our timeline and called all vendors before to ensure everything was smooth on the day of.

The day before the wedding she walked us, our bridal parties, flower girls, parents and officiant through the rehearsal, making everyone more comfortable and confident for the ceremony the following day.

Having Christine there on the actual wedding day ensured that we were both confident that everything would run smoothly, as well as our family and friends. Not only did she help with so many small, tedious things that we would have forgotten about, she also fielded SO many questions from guests and vendors which allowed myself and my wife to be able to fully enjoy and be present for the day.

I posted this in my stories a few weeks ago but I thought it deserved a dedicated post- wondering what a flat lay is?

It’s this! A shot of your accessories or small details from your wedding day. This particular one is heavy on items I wore, but you could also include the other partner’s shoes and accessories in these shots- we chose to do close ups of my husband wearing his watch, boutonnière, etc instead.

If you have all these items in one spot, your photographer can easily take them and lay them out to get these shots while you’re finishing up getting ready.

Did you know we offer set up and tear down options, along with design consultations?

These can be a great option for DIY couples needing a little bit more than day of coordination, but who aren’t looking to invest in partial or full planning, or to hire a full decorating team.

A day of coordinator offering tear down services is a unique pairing, but I’ve got a wonderful team who can’t wait to bring your vision to life and then make sure it’s all packed up securely for you at the end of the night!

Wondering what we do on a wedding day? Lots!

You can find us checking in with the wedding party, corralling family for photos, making sure vendors are arriving on time and have an avenue to ask questions, lighting candles, putting out table wine, and so much more!

You may also find us setting up a candy bar, restocking bathroom baskets, sending someone out to pick up ice, or making changes on the fly as something comes up throughout the day.

Here’s a couple shots of the team in action at my wedding- a quick break for Tammi visiting with the girls getting ready, and Zoe getting content in a tree while “packmule-ing”, as Tammi calls it, by holding the bridesmaids florals.
