We had an incredible night at the MPI Atlantic Canada Chapter Awards at the Westin Nova Scotia, celebrating industry excellence and our team's achievements! Our staff shone brightly with nominations for Dawn Baldwin, Stacey McLaughlan, Mayya Tolkacheva, and Kathleen King. Hal-Con Sci-Fi Fantasy Association 2023 won Event of the Year, and we were thrilled! The highlight was seeing Genaya Cameron receive the Barbara Broome Legacy Award for her remarkable 25-year career. It was truly a night of celebrating the bright future and strength of our industry. 🌟

🌊 Happy World Ocean Day! 🌍

Today, we celebrate the beauty and importance of our oceans and the collective efforts needed to ensure a healthy ocean and a stable climate for future generations. World Ocean Day is a global initiative that brings together youth leaders, organizations, and individuals to create a better future for our planet.

Here in Nova Scotia, we're proud of our vibrant ocean sector. Did you know that Halifax is Canada’s number one seafood exporter, sending about 50 different species of fish and seafood to nearly 80 countries? Halifax is also a hub of innovation, with over 60 high-tech ocean product and service innovators, and 80% of our ocean tech companies export globally.

Our ocean industries employ nearly 35,000 Nova Scotians, with over 300 companies thriving in this sector, benefiting from over $500 million in strategic ocean investments. Halifax leads in ocean resource extraction, fisheries, ecological protection, security, surveillance, and research. The natural resources sector here drives $7.1 billion annually into our economy. With 480 Ph.D.'s in ocean sciences, Halifax continues to be a center for oceanic knowledge and innovation.

- Our Argyle Street accessibility ramp will be closed due to the Argyle Street Shore Party, folks who need an accessible entrance to our Centre can use the Grafton Street entrance
