Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival May 28–31, 2025 • 18th annual HIFF is a presentation of the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative.

The Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival (HIFF) provides a unique platform for filmmakers and media artists to share their art in a forum dedicated to the celebration of independent cinema. It is made possible with the generous support of the Department of Canadian Heritage, Canada Council for the Arts, Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage, Telefilm Canada, and The Coast. Submissions for HIFF 2025 are NOW OPEN!

We're seeking bold, boundary-pushing independent cinema from new and unique voices. Selected films will screen at the 19th annual Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival, taking place May 28–31, 2025, at the Bus Stop Theatre.
