Teaching privately all summer under the gazebo has been fun, but the weather finally pushed me indoors ( masked of course) last night....and it was wonderful . Thanks to my new Costco air filter ( which can filter the air of our entire home in an hour ), I felt safe in our newly renovated livingroom. I do miss my students from group lessons, but Jen is doing an amazing job with them at her Bel Canto studio. I'm feeling content to just teach privately and still run chamber. That is all.

September is soon arriving. I have a few places for private students who are interested in studying violin viola or cello. Although I enjoy teaching all genres of music, classical is my specialty. Last term, 4 of my students were invited to perform at the Provincial level and won 1st place , 2nd place and honorable mention. I welcome all ages, individuals and families.

06/19/2021

Congratulations to Olivia for receiving honorable mention at the Ontario Music Festival. Bravo!

Well, this was a TRICKY piece to align...not just timing but also volume and as well less participants as we neared schools end. Then Ozzie and I had computer issues. Well, finally done . Enjoy!

SSS and HECE June 8 2020

Can’t believe its our last week already! As Azzie said to me , “ Mom, how can it be over already…we’ve had no competitions, no concerts and not even a cleaning party! “

As for the concerts? That is why we are trying to accumulate your individual performances ,recorded on top of a specific recording that I’ve made for you, in order to create a Virtual Concert with each one of you.
Ozzie and I are exhausted from trying to understand the technology and then to try to figure out IF your individual performances are counted in and recorded over the correct recording that Ive sent you. We are taking today off! So if any of you still want to send Pavanne and Basse Dance and Clog Dance ….you can , by Mon. night. After this Saturdays last lesson , you can send Mission Impossible and Frere Jacques and Happy Birthday by Mon. June 15 .We will try very hard to get these up by the end of that week.

I’ve resent all the links by email for the music and for using wetransfer or google drive. Please don’t send utube links.

If things change this summer re gathering larger groups of people, Id love to invite each class to my beautiful backyard to have a cleaning party. If not we’ll just take time sometime in the fall.

ENROLMENT FORMS and fees: please send by June 20. 222 Grosvenor Ave S. or [email protected].

Wetransfer is a website. You won’t need to download anything. Just go to this site, upload your file and send it to [email protected]. It takes a few mins. If you have have google drive / one drive already, you can use that to attach and send via email to [email protected].

Hello Everyone!
Time to send me videos!!!! Wetransfer is a website. You wont don't need to download anything. Just go to this site, upload your file and send it to [email protected]. What a beautiful weekend! Sadly , we didn't hold our Spring Concert May 2 , but everyone is sounding just amazing! Self-tuning is also improving , and will be a skill we can take away from Covid19 times. I enjoyed a wonderful birthday Sunday , Zooming with my family and enjoying my backyard! How lucky was I to get that little window of beautiful weather.
Videos for the week are posted . Check your email!

Hello Everyone!
This is week 5 of our " Quarantine Lessons" and Sat. was our first Zoom Orchestra! What a surprise! It was soooo fun...and I felt quite teary-eyed to see you all again in these strange times. I'll be honest, I was quite unsure of what to expect, knowing Zoom can have a delay and devices are different and may not be as clear, but it worked! We tuned, we talked, we listened to each other play and I'd like to think we are all remotivated.

I'll continue to send video tutorials.Private students and SSS Adv have been sent, Int and Beginners will be sent later today, chamber will get theirs tomorrow. I'd like to request you work with each video to the end ( it will be much more useful to you than ending early). Also,it does help if you have earphones you can plug into your device. Did you know I can see who opens the video tutorials, for how often and for how long? I'd like to commend our dedicated Beginners.....most openings, and at the Zoom practice, each were actually able to play all of "Do You Wanna Build A Snowman" which they learned from video tutorials! Lets use their dedication as an inspiration to all of us.

Next Zoom Orchestra Sat.:
Slight change , just join the meeting 5-10min ahead with the meeting number given in your email. Hopefully that will work better than an invited number. Not all invited numbers worked sat. Of course I'll resend a number, if necessary, as we did last sat.
YEAR 3/4 will meet at a new time : 9:00am

Times:
FRI.
HECE Trio Polonaise (Fri 4:30pm) Vivaldi , Bach...TBA

SAT.

Advanced Orchestra
9:00-9:40am adv Violn 2 and viola
10:00-10:40am adv celli and bass
11:00-11:40am adv violin 1

Beginner Orchestra
1:00-1:40pm all beginners ( violins each with a parent aid)

Intermediate Orchestra Violins
2:00-2:40pm all violins (each with a parent aid) and viola
3:00-3:30pm int. celli

Zoom: Join in earlier than your lesson time to check out how the angle of your device works for you to see and be seen playing. Check zoom audio/ video on. Use gallery view. Don't face your camera (device ) at a window, but do have enough light.

04/18/2020

Using a headphones works better . Also if you have a metronome keep it nearby.

04/16/2020

Hi Everybody! Your links to your Sat. Zoom Orchestra lessons were just sent. Note : Adv. 1st Violins ...your first link is incorrect. It was to the cello class accidentally. The 2nd link is correct for 11:00am. If everyone could please review the SSS Chimpmail from earlier this week which includes info on how to get Zoom and set up for your lesson that would be great! Can't wait to see you!

Hello Everyone!
This is week 4 of our " Quarantine Lessons".
I have been teaching privately via Zoom for 3 weeks now, and its going really well! I'd like to try group lessons this Saturday April 18/2020.. It'll be so nice to see you all, to work on tuning our instruments and then to try some of our repertoire. After watching a few videos using Zoom, it appears groups of a maximum of 10 instrumentalists work best. So I will be separating our orchestras into sectionals ( most will seem like the regular class lesson group). Have your stand, music, pencil, and be tuned if you know how.

Times: Advanced Orchestra
10:00-10:40am adv celli and bass
11:00-11:40am adv violin 1
12:00-12:40pm adv violin 2 and viola
Beginner Orchestra
1:00-1:40pm all beginners ( violins each with a parent aid)
Intermediate Orchestra Violins
2:00-2:40pm all ( violins each with a parent aid)
HECE
3:00-3:40pm

Zoom: please get the app first onto your computer or i-pad or phone. I will send you an email with an invitation to your group orchestra lesson. Click the link. You can do this earlier than your lesson time to check out how the angle of your device works for you to see and be seen playing. Check zoom audio/ video on. Use gallery view. Don't face your camera (device ) at a window, but do have enough light.

Please review all of your lessons . I'll resend the last 3 weeks SSS first , then chamber to your email.

Hello to all my students and families. I hope this email finds you all well and practicing your social distancing. Ozzie and Azzie and I are fine and taking care to wash hands regularly , disinfect our home regularly and keep our selves isolated or at an acceptable social distance when outside.

Lessons: for the time being will be sent to you weekly as a youtube video via a link, intended just for our students. I hope you will keep track of your practicing via your practice schedules, which perhaps I can request you send to me at the end of each month ( via text or email.) For now I will continue to teach the music we are learning. But if the isolation continues , Ill also send new music lessons. Try performing for a camera , or assemble your family. Try listening to the orchestra versions of our music on youtube ( just enter the pieces name, composer and /or arranger ) and when possible, finger along or bow in the air to these. Private lessons will continue via face time. I will be in touch individually.
