Today, my son and I have added yet another amazing excursion to our #fridayfunday - we headed out to @illuminariumtor with some friends to check out the #litebrite immersive & interactive exhibit! It was amazing how this was brought to life. One of the tour guides mentioned that the tech team created the 3D images and implemented them into the 2D with the Litebrite effects. How cool is that!? Definitely check this exhibit out if you haven’t. We even spent the rest of the day in the @distilleryto checking retailers and dining out. Hello everyone! I thought I would introduce myself since I haven’t done one for my existing and newest followers and explain how I traveled through this beautiful journey… My name is Sandy and I’m the owner and Creative Director of Sandola Events! I graduated and majored in arts and languages at Cathedral Highschool, then went onto to McMaster University in the Humanities program (realized it was not my jam), which I ended up exiting after 2.5 months. A year later, I entered into Sheridan College’s 2 year Visual Merchandising Arts program. While attending college, I worked in the food & hospitality industries. After leaving that industry a bit after graduation, I entered the world of Visual Merchandising. I worked for companies such as Gap, Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger & Pottery Barn to name a few over the years. My biggest role and most achieved success was when I was head Merchandiser for Tommy Hilfiger. There, I really took the reins and had FULL creative control. You don’t know giddy that made me! 😂 During my time there, my store won best looking store in the region for 2 years! Let me tell you, that was so unexpected but made me so proud because of all the heart and soul I put into that store. After I experienced creative burnout and boredom, I decided to venture off into fashion styling. So I began to build my portfolio and hoped to get work through a talent agency. However, due to the recession of 2008, I hit a brick wall. There, I had to decide what to do as an alternative - so I looked into events! I knew I enjoyed going to events and how visually appealing they can be, and because there were many similarities with events and merchandising, I figured I could achieve it and still maintain creative freedom. I started my business in 2011 and went on to get accredited through @wpicinc and @cied.ca during my adventure in event planning & design, which brings me here to today! I don’t regret one bit of the experiences I have had

Today my son and I visited the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit in Toronto as part of his #fridayfunday with our local homeschooling group. It was a very magical, immersive and interactive experience! If you are a lover of art and culture, this is a must see. On a side note, I did an art project on Van Gogh in highschool. I was very fascinated by his work and life. A very interesting and sad turn of events. I’ve always loved art in many forms - which is why I initially wanted to be an artist. I guess I’m not too far off. Let’s talk #bridalveils - veils have different meanings to different brides. To some women, a wedding veil is simply a beautiful accessory to compliment or accentuate the wedding dress. The perfect #weddingplanner is definitely Monica from Friends! She’s organized, on time and on point with logistics. She sets the tone of ease for a very stressful and detailed industry. But she can be a bit rigid. Being too much of a perfectionist can ruin the moments that are special to the couple. It’s great to be organized and have a detailed timeline, but know that not everything will go according to plan - and THAT’S OK! The best way to keep things on track is to carry a copy of the itinerary of the day, and make sure you allow a 5-10 minute buffer before the actual segments of the events are to commence. Speeches are to be about 2-3 minutes tops to ensure the rest of the reception flows in the right direction. Nothing should drag past that. This allows everything to run smoothly time wise and have more fun! And choosing a professional wedding planner over a friend planning your wedding makes a huge difference in knowing these little details and more. Any other bloopers or mishaps will just be tossed away as merely a blip and become insignificant; the rest of the day is to be enjoyed to the fullest!
