The Filipino community in Hamilton celebrates Filipino Heritage Month with bigger 'Taste of Philippines' in Gage Park. Paula Saraza reports.

Taste of Philippines Biography:

Taste of Philippines was established on October 24, 2016, under the umbrella and care of the Hamilton Filipino Community Centre in which all annual celebrations for Taste of Philippines took place.

Fast forward to present and witnessing the growth and progress Hamilton is experiencing. The location of HFCC at 1275 King St. E was expropriated to make way to Metrolinx project of the long awaited LRT construction.

Although we've lost our home and venue this also presents a wonderful opportunity for Taste Of Philippines to spread it's wings and to continue with our mission statement of introducing the Filipino Culture initially to our community and in the fullness of time to the rest of the world.

We now have the wonderful opportunity of celebrating Philippine Independence in a public space and also introducing The City of Hamilton to the rest of the world on how wonderful this city is.

This year's celebration at Gage Park marks the first opportunity for Taste of Philippines event to take place in a public space.

We would now like to take this opportunity to thank everybody that came to celebrate with us. Our Volunteers that basically made it easier for everyone to have a positive experience by keeping the premises clean. Our performers that came from as far away as British Columbia,Manitoba and our local musicians and dancers that lent their talent and expertise to keep us entertained for 3 days and to all the vendors and exhibitors who also worked tirelessly to provide excellent food and services, To the food inspectors and park representatives to keep us safe and provide our requirements to keep our festival running smooth. Taste of Philippines is grateful to you all and will use this experience to inspire us to deliver better today than yesterday. We can't wait to do this again. See you all next year!

Taste of Philippines 2024 Independence Day Celebration. Gage Park, Hamilton ON.

Just a short message today. I want to begin just by expressing our gratitude to all that came to help us celebrate our first independence day celebration in a public space and against all odds made it a resounding success. The future is bright and we can't wait to do this for our community again next year. Mabuhay!!!
