🐶💦🐾Join us for the Pool Party of the summer at this year’s splashtastic Pooch Plunge!
⏰Held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 after Victoria Park Community Centre Pool closes to the public from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. The chlorine levels are dropped to make the pool dog-friendly swim.
💦The pool has a beach-style shallow entry ramp to allow dogs to walk into the water gradually, though dogs are also welcome to jump in off the deeper sides! Pawrents – sorry – this event is for the pooches only – due to the lowered chlorine levels, no humans are allowed into the water.
✅Admittance to the swim is by donation by either monetary, dog food (wet/dry), kibble, kitten food, dog treats, toys, etc. as we are joining with the Oxford Country Animal Rescue, where all proceeds will go to them.
The entrance for this swim will be the glass doors at back of building leading directly to pool area, doors will open at 4:30pm.
RULES:
• Handlers are responsible for their dogs at all times. Please ensure you are watching your dog(s) at all times. You are responsible for their well-being and safety.
• Lifeguards on duty are responsible for the humans on the pool deck.
• Only dogs are permitted in the water; no humans.
• Max number of humans and dogs is 130.
• Handler/owner must be inside the pool area at all times with their dogs.
• Dogs must be accompanied by a person of at least 18 years of age or older.
• Each handler/owner can be responsible for a maximum of 3 dogs.
• Children under the age of 12 years must be supervised by an adult at all times.
• If a dog begins acting aggressively towards others (both people and other dogs), it must be leashed immediately and removed from the pool enclosure.
• Please stoop and scoop if necessary and dispose of any excrement.
• Only fully vaccinated dogs are permitted (no puppies under 4 months old permitted for this reason) and No dogs in heat allowed.
TIPS:
• To avoid accidents 💩on the pool deck and in the pool, please engage your dog in a high energy activity before entering the Pooch Plunge.
Please close doors behind you when entering/exiting the pool enclosure to avoid dogs escaping.

🌿 Honoring the Forgotten: Join us in reclaiming the history of our community's Potter's Field at the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery. From Mary Ann Scott in 1868 to Harold Edmunds in 1976, 363 souls found their final resting place here, often overlooked due to societal biases. 📜 Through a joint effort with Western University historians and archaeologists, along with the support of Ingersoll and Zorra Township, we're restoring dignity to those laid to rest in Potter's Field. Over ten researchers have diligently uncovered the life stories of each individual, shedding light on their contributions and struggles. 🔍 Using cutting-edge technology like ground-penetrating radar, we're unraveling the mysteries of burial patterns, ensuring no story remains untold. Soon, a monument will stand as a testament to our acknowledgment of past oversights, listing the names and dates of those interred. ℹ️ Learn more at Oxford County’s Local History Day, Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at the Ingersoll Library.
