Not only is this our 1000th post 😱 it's also Candid Apple's 14th Birthday! 🎈
To say it's been a whirlwind is an understatement. For instance, this exact photo of Brad and I was taken last November, only seconds before our Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS III lens bounced off the sea wall, landed 8 feet down into the sand before sliding (in slow motion, I might add) into the salt water. Our 18 year old son, (our most trusted family member with our gear, as he is the lead videographer to our Candid Apple Film team and extremely familiar with our equipment), was zooming in when his hand accidentally pressed the lens release button. The entire situation was fluke after fluke; for some reason, it was just meant to be 🤷♀️.
This really does sum up the ups and downs of being a business owner. Heck, 14 years ago, our equipment was not the quality we have now, so having a lens to cry a little over when it meets it's demise at only 1 year old, makes you feel grateful, if you find the right perspective. And business insurance! Didn't have that 14 years ago, but it saved the day here!
To think how far we've come in an industry that can be brutal, kick you when your down, and then stomp on your face, is madness to reminisce. It hits even harder when you've put your heart and soul into every step, but the rewards is also that much greater. We've rolled with all the curve balls of self-employment and, well, life. Our passion for our craft and sweet little Candid Apple business has driven us to expand through it all, not only with the services and experiences we offer, but also our team. What was once just the two of us, is now a full family-run "empire" (our little empire), and we are so full of gratitude. And to have our children and their significant others WANT to be a part of it all, GAHHHHH, there are no words.
If you've made it this far, thank you. You are all part of all the magic; whether a client, vendor, follower, someone we inspire, our friends and family, even a stalker 🤷♀️, you are all truly valued. We wouldn't have made it to 14 years without you ❤️
