WATCH OUT! The scammers get you with ego 🙂. I was astonished and delighted this morning to receive an email saying I had been nominated as the "best wedding officiant in Kelowna" with a satisfaction score of over 95%. Because I am a somewhat skeptical person though, I googled them before clicking on their "helpful link to view my listing." Good thing I did. It is a scam. Sigh. I was pretty happy for a few seconds there though. Anyway people, be careful what you click on!

Yesterday Angelique and Dumas were married in the local village hall in Kelowna, surrounded by their family and loved ones. Dumas was propelled down the aisle by their elderly blind and deaf dog, Marley, who was wearing a rather fetching tuxedo. They were ecstatically happy and struggled to get through their vows. They have found each other and I was so happy to be marrying them and be a part of their day. Happy life, Angelique and Dumas!

Sometimes mountain-top helicopter weddings don't go to plan. Postponements. Weather. Rotor blades blowing my ceremony documents towards the cliff edge. Had to chase them through the trees! Was conducting the ceremony and stepped back to allow the couple a moment of privacy for their vows and fell in a snow drift. The couple had to lift me up to complete the ceremony! It was all in all though, a delight to marry Courtney and Salina. This was a second marriage for them both and they feel so lucky that they found each other! May you both have a wonderful life together!

Liam and Marlina met and made their relationship work while 5000 miles apart. Finally, this weekend they married in a pagan-inspired ceremony in the middle of a forest with their closest family and beloved dogs in attendance. The rain clouds parted, sun shone upon them, and their happiness was so clear. I felt so privileged to be marrying them. Happy life, Liam and Marlina!

Neither Anna nor Rick had ever expected to find love again and yet they did. So they celebrated this by getting married today on a pontoon in the middle of Kalamalka Lake surrounded by their closest family and friends. And me, of course! I love my job ❤️.

Corey and Sheena's wedding was so much fun! Corey loves video games (and Sheena), and Sheena loves Corey ... so we did a marriage ceremony in the format of a video game. They started out in different places, they and the guests had to complete challenges, obtain special keys to move forwards towards each other, and finally by the end of the ceremony, they achieved the highest level ... they got to exchange rings and say "I do!" Sheena surprised Corey when she gave him his wedding ring. It was his best friend's wedding ring who he'd lost several years before. I loved this couple and know they will have a wonderful life together.

I had the privilege of marrying Ben and Krista recently in the middle of a lake on a luxury yacht in the same place Ben's mother's ashes took flight not long before. Their family and friends tied on to the main yacht from separate yachts and Ben and Krista's "aisle" was jumping from separate boats onto the main one. A duck appeared at the very moment we mentioned Ben's mother, and she stayed with us the entire time we were there. She obviously approved! I could feel the absolute love between them and so happy to be part of their day! Happy life Ben and Krista!

Married Jess and Ross recently at the Cove in West Kelowna. Because their beloved Golden Doodle couldn't join them for the wedding, we mentioned her as a "Remote Ring Bearer, Best Dog, Ring Doodle, and Dog of Honour." When we mentioned her in the ceremony, all the kids leapt up and held up huge posters of her. So funny. All the guests had a massive laugh! I think that dog would be happy she was included in her adored people's wedding. Happy Life, Jess and Ross ... you are a wonderful couple and looked so happy to be together!

Did my first Celebration of Life ceremony today for two sisters celebrating their parents. Maggie and Bud were colourful, energetic people who played slow pitch into their 80s and competed in the BC Senior Games (Maggie even won the Most Valuable Player award at the age of 82!). Rather than being a sad occasion, we made it fun, and played a bit of slow pitch over the grave (whoever caught the ball got to speak out their memories of them both). There were tears as well as laughter. And as we closed the grave and blessed it, everyone toasted the couple with a shot of Fireball, as that was the solution Maggie always believed would cure all ills! I felt the love, the sadness, and the happiness there between the family, and was honoured to be there with them.

Love this. Don't wait!

We say pretty words about dead people. There’s something about Death that forces the poet in us to the surface. When we lose someone we love, we suddenly feel free to speak beautiful, flowery sentiments of gratitude, and affection, and admiration; words that we’d kept bottled-up for years; words...

I had the pleasure of working with Lise from Reimagine Celebrations twice during the 2021 wedding season.

I really enjoy seeing the style and personality that each officiant brings to a wedding, and how they can make the ceremony unique to each couple.

I’m looking forward to working with Lise again in 2022!

For a bride who works jumping into job sites by helicopter, it would only work to get married by ... arriving by helicopter. This wonderful couple met up in the north of BC, and together with their two children, witnesses and wedding officiant (me!), flew up to West Kelowna to marry atop a mountain. I was delighted to be part of their ceremony and wish Jess and Cory such a happy life!

Let's face it, wedding planning and the ceremony itself are an unofficial test of our sanity, so it’s no surprise that surprises do happen.

On 17 May, during a break in the cloud bank, we flew by helicopter up to the top of a nearby mountaintop outside Kelowna so that I could marry Jess and Cory. Their two children were included in the vows, and we all toasted their wedding to the sound of rotary blades :-). Such a beautiful wedding with the birds, the view, and the absolute happiness of this new family.

On a sweltering 41 degree day in Kelowna last week, I was lucky enough to marry two people who couldn't seem to believe how lucky they were to have found and married their perfect partner. Their mutual love and respect was clear, and their family and friends so happy to be there for them. Best wishes Brooklyn and Sandy. I wish you every happiness and know that you will be very happy together!
