This will be a complete surprise setup, 1 day only! We call it "Hello Pumpkin", which yes, will involve pumpkins, but the exact set will be a secret! So close to our hearts, this family has been lifelong friends. From giving me one of my very first jobs at their family business, Diamond H Tack, to lending me their horse to search for mine when he decided to go on a solo adventure, to many heart-felt conversations...to say the least, I was over-the-moon when I was asked to photograph and help plan this epic day. Welcome to the family, Baloo. We weren't quite ready to add a new family member, after the sudden loss of our boy, Bear-Bear, but Huck's loneliness was taking it's toll.

Baloo is a 3 month old Bernese/Swiss Mountain dog. He has already stolen our hearts. We are so grateful to the Quesnel family who entrusted us with their sweetest boy ❤️🐶

FIVE YEARS!! Happy Anniversary to our son and his love. Their hearts intertwined right before our eyes at Legion National Track & Field Championships in Nova Scotia in 2019 and they've been inseparable ever since. Their relationship endured their 2 year age gap, starting at age 14 + 16, different schools, 1 year long distance and 1 year at University, living on their own, studying, training + competing in NCAA track and field together!

A long post, but so close to our hearts, in light of the OLYMPICS!

TRACK - As many of you know, track is a huge part of our lives. Much of our time over the last 8+ years has been dedicated to the incredible sport of Athletics, as the parents to boys whose passion is track and field. Whether driving to practices, volunteering, mending injuries, travelling to meets all over Canada, we are invested, to say the least. We have witnessed, firsthand, how this sport has contributed to the overall growth of our boys, teaching them so much, from fitness, technique, community involvement, and sportsmanship, to respect, the meaning and reward of hard work, and the value of a team atmosphere, even while competing individually, and giving back. So many important values that has helped mold them into the amazing humans that they are.

RELAY - The relay race is near and dear to our hearts. It is one of the most exciting events and we have cheered our boys on in this event countless times. So much technique, skill, and comradery go into a relay, just crossing the finish line with the baton in hand can be a feat, but to do it well, is magical.

OLYMPICS - Today, the 2024 Paris Olympics hosted the 4x100m relay finals. BOTH our Canadian relay teams (men and women) qualified for the finals earlier this week and our emotions were in full force.

MARIE-ÉLOISE LECLAIR - Our brand-new women's relay team, which includes Tyson + Emma's SFU teammate, inseparable campus bestie, and Emma's fellow University/NCAA relay teammate, ran an incredible race and finished 6th....in the WORLD....AT THE OLYMPICS! This team also broke the Canadian 4x100m record! Marie is one of the sweetest, most humble, and talented humans ever, with the best sense of humor. With Marie such a big part of Ty + Emma's University life (especially as it was Tyson's first year), it leaves this mama grateful for the guidance, inspiration and true friendship she exudes. This past Spring, when Marie was invited to an international training camp, I knew big things were going to happen for her. So much, in fact, that the day before she left, I asked for her autograph. She laughed and gave me a funny look, but after A LOT of persistence (and only if Tyson and Emma would also sign theirs), she obliged. The Olympics weren't even on the radar yet, and here we are. MARIE IS NOW AN OLYMPIAN!

JEROME BLAKE - Today our Canadian men's relay team WON GOLD!! Our boys have been inspired by each member of this team for many years, and in 2020, their fellow Okanagan Athletics Club teammate, Jerome, joined the team, and won silver. Today, the same 4 men, brought home GOLD! It has been amazing to watch Jerome on this journey, so full of highs and lows, that only passion, drive and determination can surpass. Over the last few years, Jerome travels to train and compete worldwide, but still comes back to hang out at Kelowna's Apple Bowl with OAC at practices and meets to answer questions, pass around his Olympic medal and sign autographs when he can. Nothing inspires athletes more than an Olympic medallist in your midst, who started off in the same club and is coached by the same coach!!

All-in-all, what a great day for us, Canada, the sport of Athletics, Okanagan Athletics Club , and Simon Fraser University! CONGRATULATIONS!!

As an artist, a photographer, a vendor to such an important day, as a human, really, we all love to feel like the heart and soul you put into each image, each wedding, each kind gesture is appreciated, noticed and validated. It's human nature. We know we aren't for everyone, nor do we aim to be everyone's choice. As a photographer, a vendor, even a friend. That's just how life works. Everyone has different preferences, styles, personalities, and different things that draw them in.

We won't oversell ourselves, try and convince every inquiry that we are for them, or offer something that isn't true to our art, our values, our hearts. When we feel that connection with a human, we are all in. Quality over quantity. This is how we have chosen to build our little business, how we choose our friends, how we raise our kids, and how we continue to love what we do. Loyalty, compassion, trust, and understanding are everything to us. Above and beyond is just how we roll, when we lock into that connection.

Sometimes, we are tested. Sometimes we don't see those red flags, we let our guard down. Sometimes we feel like we just need to care less to save our hearts. But then, when we need it most, we deliver a gallery and receive a message from our bride that starts with:

Oh... my... frickin... GOOOOOODDDDNEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!! 🥹

And the stars align again....

I'll make this short, but Bear-Bear deserves his post, no matter how hard this is. Two weeks ago, at only 3 years old, our beautiful giant boy passed away, randomly at home. We have no idea what happened, no warnings, he was just gone. We've never lost a young dog, so the shock is tolling in such a different way than a pet who has lived a full life. ⠀

He was such a unique dog, so in love with the 7 of us. As a livestock guardian dog, we were his "livestock", which he protected fiercely, which created some challenges. He was THE BEST snuggler, knew how to subtly get your attention when he needed it (which was often), and blessed us with his big paws that he'd politely place on your lap at any moment. He loved as huge as he was.⠀

We love you Bear-Bear, you left a big emptiness in our home and our hearts, and I miss the dog hair you left everywhere. We are so grateful to have had you while we did, but wish your time here was longer 😭
