One thing to think about sooner rather then later is your “wedding day soundtrack”. Yep you heard me right, SOUNDTRACK. But Molly, this isn’t a movie?! Well it kinda is!!!
There are quite a few moments within a wedding day that allow you to create an intimate and memorable experience through song. This isn’t just your first dance either. A few of those moments include:

✨ WEDDING/EVENT COORDINATOR ✨
So far this season, I am 2/2 with “emergencies” at my events:
1. Baby emergency…aka snacks & jammies. The diaper bag was forgot at the getting ready condo, and with bedtime approaching it was NEEDED. Don’t worry, I got this 💪🏼 here goes the coordinator, jumping in her car and driving to grab the baby bag!
2. A post wedding brunch… when the caterers forget the coffee! This will. Not. Due. Don’t worry, I got this 💪🏼 here goes the coordinator, jumping in her car, ordering 4 carafs from Starbucks, on the go, for pick up. Back in time for the first guests to arrive… phew! ☕️
When things get a little out of control, you want one person you can rely on to help, without interrupting a guests experience! This is just one of the many values to hiring a coordinator. ✍🏻📝

✨ WEATHER ✨
the ONE thing we cannot control when it comes to outdoor weddings, so we MUST have backup plans.
This past weekend it was looking pretty grim. On and off pouring rain, gusting winds, and cool temperatures. We had a plan in place to pivot the ceremony last minute indoors if we had to. Luckily, the weather managed to hold off long enough to enjoy the wedding ceremony outside… YAY!! 🎉🎊🍾🙌🏻
When planning an outdoor ceremony be sure to:
• have a back up plan for rain ☔️
• bring towels with you, incase of any last minute seat drying 🧻
• as a guest, check the weather and dress accordingly 🧥
• be prepared to embrace Mother Nature and all her surprises 🍃🍃

✨ SPEECHES ✨
Can be boom or bust. Literally. The crowd can be laughing & engaged or yawning & checked out. 🥱 a few tips when planning your speeches/toast portion of the evening:
1. Do speeches AFTER dinner. Grumbling stomaches and hangry guests are NOT the vibe for speeches.
2. Limit the amount of speeches to 4 or 5, and no longer than 5 minutes in length. 🎤
3. No open Mic… this *rarely* works out.
4. Have a announcement prior to speeches for guests to get a drink/fill their glasses, so they have a beverage to toast with! 🍻
5. Have whoever is doing a speech, write them down. This is so you can take a copy of the speech home and have it in the memory box forever. Such a sweet sentiment to look back on 🥲

Celebrating our mommas is always important, especially on our wedding day. It’s an emotional day for them, watching their ‘baby’ leave the nest 🪹. Some of my favourite ways I have seen the mommas incorporated:
• the groom walking down his mom & his new MIL down the isle
• a mother - son dance
• having your mom say a blessing over the food
• incorporating a loving story into the ceremony
• ensuring mother son/daughter mom photos are prioritized
• a photo wall with photos of the bride/groom with their mommas (and families!)

✨ CEREMONIES ✨
your ceremony may be a short part of your wedding day, but it is the most sacred part of the day. This is where you legally, emotionally, and physically become husband & wife. Choosing and planning the details of your ceremony are very important. Things to consider:
• length of ceremony: I recommend no longer then 30 minutes, 20 if it is in the heat of the summer.
• vows: are you doing your own vows? Private or spoken for everyone to hear? There are many ways to incorporate your own vows into your wedding day, without saying them for everyone to hear.
• location: do you want your location to be seperate then your reception? If so, consider the time of day you do this at to ensure you leave enough time in between for photos, transportation, and delays.
• officiant: religious? Spiritual? Short n’ sweet???

✨ Officiant vs Celebrant vs Pastor ✨
You’re getting married! Vendors are coming together, but now you’re at the stage of looking to find a person to make your marriage legal… and there are more options then you thought! Let me explain…
• Officiant: typically referring to a vital statistics officiant. These wonderful men and women work through the Government of B.C. Usually around 15 minutes, these ceremonies are short and sweet, and very scripted. This is a legal ceremony without too much fuss. You can find their script on the Government of B.C. website. Cost: $100.00 + travel
• Celebrant: these folks offer a more personalized and individualized ceremony. These individuals have gone through schooling to be ordained, so this is still a legal ceremony. They are not required to follow the Government script, and will incorporate whatever beliefs you want into your ceremony. Usually these ceremonies are a bit longer as they are more catered to the couple. With multiple meetings prior to your wedding, these folks really get to know the couple. These services range from $400–$2000/ceremony depending on the vendor. ❤️
• Pastor: usually these are people you know through your childhood, church goings, or friends who are pastors. Pastors are legally allowed to perform ceremonies in B.C. 9 times out of 10, there will be a religious component to the ceremony. When working with a pastor, they will also create a specific ceremony to the couple, personalizing the ceremony. Often there are scripture readings, stories about the couple, and a small religious message. Typically these ceremonies are around 30 minutes. Cost… there technically isn’t a cost, but usually the couple gives a “gift” to the pastor for their time! 🤍

Phew, it’s been a busy month! Between selling our home, moving, site visits, coordination calls, planning, and chasing my 10 month around I’ve hardly been able to catch my breath. I’ve been a bit quiet (on social media) lately so I wanted to give an update!
✨ 2024 Season ✨
Our first wedding is about a month away and we are STOKED. I can’t wait to kick off this season here in Kelowna! 13 events this summer between May - October. It will be exciting to show you what we get up too!

2025 is shaping up to be the best season yet! 60% booked with full planning, I’ll begin taking coordination bookings (depending on availability) in June! Fitz Winery, Origin Winery, Summerhill Winery, The Laurel Packing House, Dolan Creek Farm… some of the venues on the docket! I cannot wait.

✨THE DRESS ✨
There is nothing like the reveal of the wedding dress. Seeing the bride walking down the isle, glowing, in beautiful bridal attire 😍🥂❤️
The dress often ties the whole design of the day together, completing the vibe.
Often underrated is the grooms attire. Going tuxedo or suit, jacket or no jacket, grey vs coloured, or bow tie vs tie, can make all the difference!
Attire matters, which is why I’m always sure to incorporate the attire into the overall vibe of the design. 👰♀️👔👗

Over the last few days I’ve been working on some design/mood boards for clients. It is super fun and exciting to collaborate with clients and start to get a feel for them, their vision, and preferences!
With one bride we are working with this super fun, bright, wildflower themed, summer pallet. Bringing in all the oranges, pinks, and greens. This is creating a whimsy, fun, & playful vibe 🍉🌻☀️⛱️
On the other hand, I am working with some clients who are going for a more upscale, black tie, formal, classic design. With accents of blush colours, and simplicity being woven into their vision. This is a timeless and classy feel. 💍🌹🪷🤵♀️✨

One of the biggest bonuses about getting married in the Okanagan, is the accessibility to world class wines!!! 🍷🥂
Table wines are often provided by the bride & groom to their guests with dinner. Usually this is a bottle of red & bottle of white. Personally, I think these bottles are often a beautiful addition to the overall look of your table.
One thing I always suggest to my couples is make a date day of choosing your wine!! Go out and wine taste at some of your favourite wineries (or at the winery you’re being married at) and choose your wedding wine!
Bonus points if you become a member at said winery… I mean who doesn’t want wine delivered to their door year round?… ⭐️⭐️

All this sunshine over the last few days has got me SO excited for my 2024 weddings. May cannot come soon enough! 🌞☀️🌤️

To cake or not to cake? 🎂🍰
After all is said and done, the dollars have been spent, and everything has been planned, one of the biggest disappointments is if your entire cake goes to waste!
Cakes are beautiful, yummy, and traditional. These are all reasons to have one. I love the tradition of freezing a slice and eating it on your first anniversary; however, often guests skip the cake and go for candy from a candy bar, or hand held desserts. These can often be less expensive and less wasted.
Some things to consider when considering a cake vs. dessert:
- cake cutting fees. Often vendors/venues charge $5/pp
- heat. If it’s super warm out often the buttercream/outside of the cake will start to melt. Somewhere to keep the cake cool is important.
- cost. Get quotes for a large cake, a small cake, and various hand held desserts.
- cake cutting. Do you love the traditional cake cutting moment? If so, this is probably for you! If not, I would suggest another form of dessert.
