Dear Friends…… not sure how many know that I am battling Stage 4 cancer which has now spread into my brain. People that know are surprised at my positive mindset and energy level as I’ve decided fight this with a small army of friends and family with everything in my arsenal. Had to take time off from January with a 3 week hospital stay but I was working from home till last week and now full time at store again. It’s been tough especially after the forced move in August that I swear crashed my immune system ( having had Melanoma in 2020 that disappeared) but with Gods will he has a plan for my life that is not done yet. There is no fear …..just determination and to STAND TALL. I wanted to share all this with everyone became I know many of you are facing your own crisis with you or your families health , the high cost of living and trying to stay in business. Good Friday and Easter is in a week and we have balloon decor which displays the real meaning of Easter. We normally only have balloons & decor depicting Easter eggs , bunnies and chicks with spring time colours and flowers but this year i wanted to remind people the importance of the resurrection and how it shaped the world. Not really very lucrative for the chocolate and candy industry but important nonetheless so let’s just try for some balance while you eat a bag of Cadbury mini-eggs ( I love them !)

Today would have been my moms 90th birthday. It’s hard to believe she died 6 years ago as I think about her often especially when we drive the hour and half to Salmon Arm to visit the grandkids. Mom and I would often go by ourselves and have these amazing conversations and there was never a silent moment! I will always remember those drives ….especially her sense of wonder at all she saw during the drive and would often exclaim “unbelievable” at the most seemly mundane things that I wouldn’t have even noticed……a lone big tree in a field, a large flock of birds sitting on a telephone line, the sun highlighting the side of cliff …..she made me notice the beauty of the world and all that surrounds us that we take for granted. I can tell you that I notice these things now especially as a I battle Stage 4 Cancer. I am determined to beat it and if not, I look forward to seeing both my Mom and Dad again. Either way I win! Every day is more precious now and so are my memories of a mother who was the kindest person I ever knew , she had a great sense of humour and could ( and did ) talk to everyone she met. She was truly beautiful inside and out and I miss her very much. ❤️Happy Birthday Mom❤️. Btw that last pic was me 65 years ago 😊

Need to brag about my amazing daughter Mel who successfully organized and managed The Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in Salmon Arm last weekend along with many volunteers. Nationally this fundraiser raised over 13.2 million for the benefit of the many charities it supports. Mel raises money this year as well as other years for The Shuswap Food Action Society which she is the managing director. Within the society she runs the Community Teaching Garden for the benefit of the Second Harvest, she manages with volunteers the school lunch program, the downtown Farmers Market and organizes educational programs called Sunday Sessions plus more……..including being a mom to my 2 amazing grandkids pictured on the last frame. Duncan is 10 and Caelynn is 8…..both are smart, energetic kids who I just love to pieces.
