It is day two of the Summerside Lobster Carnival! Check out the program for today:
Friday, July 12, 2024
12:00 pm: Lobster Carnival Grounds and East Coast Amusement Midway Open
Credit Union Place Grounds, 511 Notre Dame Street - Look for the Carnival Tents and Midway on Rufus Street entrance – plenty of free parking between the carnival grounds and Red Shores Summerside Raceway.
Summerside Seafood Supreme Lobster Culinary Demonstration and Food Tent – Event Chef Robert Pendergast
PEI lobster, and lobster salsa with nacho chips, available throughout the afternoon. Purchase Lobster Supper tickets online, at the Lobster Trap Merchandise Store or at the door during the suppers. Visit the Lobster Prince Edward Island Booth. Water station available.
Lobster Culinary Demonstrations and Activities
Celebrating PEI's wild sustainable Lobster Industry
12 noon Chef Pendergast Demonstration and Taste Testing: PEI lobster and ADL grilled cheese sandwich.
1:00 pm Rhubarb Crisp and Rhubarb Pie Competition: Rhubarb makes for a great lobster dinner dessert. Two categories with great prizes. Trivia and complimentary rhubarb crisp during judging. Entry form online. Sponsored by Northumberland Ferries.
2: 00 pm Chef Pendergast Lobster Demonstration and Taste Testing: Lobster Bacon Hash
3:00 pm Pan Fried Haddock with Dill and Lobster Sauce with guest chef Andrew Fisk presented by La Belle Alliance.
4:00 pm Tent closes to prepare for Lobster Supper: Lobster can be purchased until 4 pm.
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Traditional PEI lobster supper includes: lobster, potato salad, coleslaw, cucumber, roll, ADL Dairy Isle butter, cookie, water, and tea. Lobster boat captains will crack your lobster and answer questions and pose for pictures. Cold plate available and includes, chef prepared ham and turkey, potato salad, coleslaw, cucumber, roll, ADL Dairy Isle butter, cookie, water, and tea. $32.00 taxes included. Take-out available. Island craft beer offered for additional cost. Supper entertainment features Acadian fiddle music with Louise Arsenault and Helen Bergeron. Feel free to dance.

7:00 pm PEI Youth Talent Competition presented by PEI Associations of Exhibitions and PEI Mutual Insurance Company. Open to Island youth ages 13 to 21. Winner represents the carnival at the provincial finals. 1st prize, $300, 2nd prize, $150, 3rd, $75. Performance by 2023 Provincial PEI Youth Talent Competition Winner, Hanna Millman.

7:00 pm StandardAero Summerside Lobster Carnival Trivia Championship with host Wil MacDonald. Trivia teams compete to be the best! 1st prize, $600, 2nd prize,$300, 3rd prize, $100. Team entry forms online.
Ice Pond Nature Park - Greenwood Drive across from Carnival Grounds
12:00 pm- 5 pm: BBEMA Bug Extravaganza! Get ready for a day of bug-tastic fun at our youth event! Dive into a world of activities designed to spark curiosity and excitement. Craft your own insect creations at our bug-themed craft station, embark on a thrilling bug scavenger hunt, marvel at fascinating bug displays, and explore the tiny world of macroinvertebrates at our sorting station. Plus, get up close and personal with bugs using our high-powered microscopes.
4:00 pm- 8:00 pm: BBEMA Annual Fishing Derby supported by the Summerside Lobster Carnival. Three $50 prizes up for grabs: Largest Fish Caught, Youth Largest Fish Caught, Most Enthusiastic Angler.
There is no entry fee.
