#DYK that our catering division (alongside the help of our friends and partners at Best for Bees) maintains their own apiary? It doesn't get more local or fresh than that!
Last week they had their first inspection, and here's what Erica from Best For Bees had to report:
"Exciting news from our hives! Both colonies have thrived through the winter and are buzzing with activity. As Spring unfolds, our bees are busy collecting a variety of pollen, signalling their readiness for the season.
👑 We've spotted the queen in both hives, actively laying thousands of eggs. Currently, each hive houses approximately 20,000 bees! (🧐 PSST... can you spot her in the video?)"

🌱 Start planting for pollinators! Flowers, shrubs, and trees not only beautify your space but also support the health and growth of our bee communities. Opting for native Ontario plants is even better, as local pollinators are uniquely adapted to these species.
🍀 Consider reducing your lawn area in favour of flowering plants or low-lying foliage like clover, which enriches the soil, conserves water, and provides an excellent food source for bees.
🌺 By planting a range of species that bloom from early spring to late fall, you'll offer a continuous feast for our pollinating friends.
