Great day spent with Samm !!

Here’s a little life update for those wondering/following along the spousal broken back saga.

Below is a direct post from a post made to her socials at a pain free point yesterday.

“Surgery is done. Yes I have a lot of pain/ discomfort/horribleness but underneath all that my back feels good. Like this is it. This is what it needed. It feels strong. It feels stable. It feels like it’s ready to attack life! I now have 3 rods instead of 2. Have been upgraded to carbon fibre something rods instead of titanium. Have a new bigger stronger badass cage. and a whole lot of bone grafting fancy stuff to make sure it heals. My surgeon came in on his day off for me. He called me his VIP patient. He special ordered all kinds of stuff to put in my back. Feeling good exceptionally grateful right now.”

This photo/video spread has been our time together this weekend. Personally I’m still in shock and haven’t processed the whirlwind that just happened. This was a planned occurrence the first time around. Grateful she was moved to a new unit last new. She was in the trauma unit was was a complete zoo. Took sometimes 35-50 mins to have a nurse come when paged.

I know I’m still going to break down and feel the feels.

Thank you all who’ve reached out and expressed love in one way or another.

It is felt and means more than I could put to words.

I know this is not wine related but this has been one of the reasons things have been quieter on here lately.

Well....
Here we go again. Current situation is that both of the titanium rods broke in Kora’s back, and not just a cracked one on the left side as we were told.
Basically surgery will be most likely be Thursday or Friday.
They need to express ship in new rods for her back, plus some other stuff. Both rods broke as her back never fully fused. The surgeon assumes it’s because T-10 was radiated to s**t. So putting in a bunch of hardware and making her a cyborg now.
The circled object in the picture is the cage that replaced her vertebrae. It moved as her rods snapped.
Good vibes, prayers, and all of the things welcome. I’ll be off from the rest of the week again to support my kids as they also process this.
At least we know that there is a solution. Frustrating that we are back here@sunnybrook so soon after the first time.
