🌟 Celebrating Stella S, a Laketown Ranch Benevolent Society scholarship recipient! 📚 A 2023 graduate of Frances Kelsey Secondary, Stella is now in her second year at UBC, pursuing a major in English and a minor in History.

With dreams of becoming both a teacher and a writer, Stella has been immersing herself in English, history, and creative writing courses. She has already penned short stories like Horse and a Cherry Tree and is currently engaged in a spirited debate on Shakespeare’s place in contemporary education.

🌟 Meet Noah M, a Laketown Ranch Benevolent Society scholarship recipient! 🎶 A 2019 graduate of Frances Kelsey Secondary, Noah is currently completing his undergraduate studies in Music Education at the University of Victoria.

Beyond his studies, he is deeply involved in the music community, performing with UVic’s Chamber Singers and Vocal Jazz ensemble while also serving as Concertmaster for the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra. With a passion for high school music education, specializing in strings and choir, he is on track to graduate this June!

🌟 Meet Arica W, a Laketown Ranch Benevolent Society scholarship recipient! 🎓 A 2020 graduate of Quw'utsun Secondary (formerly Cowichan Secondary), Arica pursued her passion in healthcare and earned her denturist license in 2024.

Now, she’s making a difference in the community as one of three registered denturists at Beautiful Smiles Denture Clinic in Duncan, BC, helping people regain confidence in their smiles!

🌟 Meet Maddy M, a proud recipient of a Laketown Ranch Benevolent Society scholarship! 🎓 Maddy, a 2020 graduate of Cowichan Secondary (now Quw'utsun Secondary), went on to earn a Bachelor of Education with a minor in political science from Vancouver Island University.

During her studies, she gave back to the community by coaching hockey for Cowichan Secondary School and the non-profit Salish Storm Hockey Association. Now, she is inspiring the next generation as a high school math, science, and physical and health education teacher at Ditidaht Community School in Nitinat.

Since 2018, the Laketown Ranch Benevolent Society has proudly awarded $46,250 in scholarships to Cowichan Valley students, supporting their educational journeys in arts, health, education, and beyond. Each scholarship is valued at $1,500, with the opportunity to renew annually for up to four years, providing a total of $6,000 towards post-secondary education!

Thank you to our community! Together we raised $15300 ✨

You may recall that earlier in the month we partnered with Laketown Ranch for a donation matching campaign, where they committed to matching the donations received by Cowichan Lake Community Services between December 3rd-17th.

The numbers are in and thanks to you we received a total of $7650.00 in donations!

Mike from Laketown Ranch stopped by earlier today to present us with our matched cheque, meaning a grand total of $15,300.00 was donated through this campaign!

Thank you to Laketown Ranch and all those who donated - this really is a small community full of big hearts! ❤️

✨ Join the Laketown Ranch Benevolent Society and Cowichan Lake Community Services in spreading holiday cheer this Giving Tuesday and beyond ✨

Giving Tuesday is a global movement encouraging everyone to give back, whether through acts of kindness, volunteering, or donations. This year, Laketown Ranch is partnering with Cowichan Lake Community Services to bring awareness and support to their organization.

From December 3rd-17th, the Laketown Ranch Benevolent Society will MATCH every financial donation to CLCS. Donations can be made in-person at 121 Point Ideal Drive in Lake Cowichan or online at www.comserv.org.
