Remembrance Day will be marked on Saturday, Nov. 11 with a gathering at the Murrayville Cemetery. It’s the seventh such ceremony at the cemetery, home to one of the two Langley cenotaphs built after the First World War to remember the fallen.
The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a procession, led by piper John McCallum. Grace Muller will serve as the master of ceremonies. There will be music from soloist Krystal McEwan and violinist Sharon Fong. Poems remembering the fallen will be read by committee members. This will be followed by the Last Post played by trumpeter Brian Parkinson, after which there will be two minutes of silence. This will be followed by the laying of wreaths.
For those who are older or have mobility issues, we will be live streaming the event at the Murrayville Hall and after the Ceremony, we welcome eveyone to a reception where light refreshments will be available.
The event will be live-streamed for those who are unable to get out but would like to take part from their homes. It will be available on the website www.MurrayvilleRemembranceDay.ca .
