Our very own Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr of fame today in our Gr. 10/11 Music Theatre class!

Have you seen this incredible musical? and and the whole cast are such inspirations for our current Music Theatre students (two of whom did a quick dress-up for their first-time-ever duet assignment!)

I love seeing students who are new to the world of musical theatre start to come out of their shells and then to really blossom over the semester! It is such an amazing journey that they each, individually, traverse! I can’t wait to see what they do by the end of January!

Today, September 30, is Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day.

Our Gr. 9 Instrumental and Gr. 10 & 11 Music Theatre Classes watched the documentary with about and and Gord’s journey to make and to tell the powerful story of 12 year old Chanie Wenjack.

This afternoon, our school as a whole will walk around our campus on a Truth and Reconciliation walk, learning, as we go. One stop will be at the Downie-Wenjack flag.

As we honour our Indigenous Peoples today, so must we remember and strive to do better all the days of the year. Of the 94 recommendations set for by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, none have been fully implemented to this date. It is up to all of us, as Canadians, to do better!

🎄🎅It’s CHRISTMAS in the Department!!🎅🎄

Say WHAT?!?!

It’s true! You may have seen a bunch of .bears meandering the hallowed halls of The Valley today, dressed in their best Christmas finery! And you likely were asking yourself: “WHY?!”

Well…the facts are in: These Early-Bird Christmas Merry Makers are, in fact, our 2024/25 students, and we already have Christmas on the brain!

So we dressed up today, brought in Christmas treats to share and started watching the movie-musical starring and leading this great cast!

Getting inspired by this awesome musical and putting our thinking caps (or should I say Santa Hats 🎅) on for our own show in December!

Who says you can’t have Christmas in September?!
