Full renovated, Intimate 211 seat theatre showcasing the performing arts in the heart of beautiful uptown Leamington Ontario! All are welcome!

Music, concerts, comedy, theatrical productions and community events. The Bank Theatre is located at 10 Erie Street south in uptown Leamington Ontario. The building was constructed circa 1850 and prior to ownership by the Sun Parlour Players Community Theatre, it was a Bank of Montreal, hence the name The Bank Theatre. Phase I of the renovations was completed in late August 2012. Phase II of the r

enovation plan included raising the roof to accommodate an additional 100 seats in state of the art tiered seating and many other structural improvements. Funding for Phase II was provided by the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund and the Municipality of Leamington. The theatre opened it’s doors to the public on August 31, 2012, with a production of Calendar Girls. The quaint 100 seat venue sold out all shows building confidence to all those invested that in completion the main floor with tiered seating for 212 guests would be able to accommodate the interest of our vibrant community. Sun Parlour Players Community Theatre, in its present state, was formed in 1973, but its history goes back to the early 1950’s. Since their inception, SPPCT have run workshops and staged over 100 comedies, musicals, dramas and children’s productions, of which many were written by Canadian authors. The Bank Theatre is a labour of love for many hard working volunteers, a dedicated Board of Directors, committees, and members, and we continue to partner with various organizations in Leamington and throughout Essex County. The passion for top notch live performances, arts and culture events and the drive to revitalize the Municipality of Leamington’s uptown core is shared by the Municipality of Leamington, private, corporate and government funders. Once all interior and exterior improvements are completed, The Bank Theatre will become a vibrant, viable, state of the art facility that is accessible and WIFI ready.

VOLUNTEER of the Month is Dean Valentino! Congratulations!
Did you know that our actors and Board of Directors are also volunteers. That's community theatre! Dean Valentino is currently volunteering his time for the 5th show in the last year and a half with The Bank Theatre!

He recently played the titular character in Dracula; in June he directed and played the Duke in Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona; in the spring he was McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest; and last year he was Marc in Art and now he is both directing Halfway There and playing the role of Sean the handsome Toronto doctor (typecasting).

Other recent productions include his award-winning work as Tom in Better Living by G.F. Walker, Friar Lawrence in the Korda Production of Romeo and Juliet. Scott in the Post Productions/AWE debut of Traffic.

Next up he is directing Murder on the Orient Express at Korda. Dean wishes to thank his two theatre solitudes for their inspiration, his fellow cast and crew—and of course his family (wife and dogs) for support and trust throughout these productions.

Halfway There by Norm Foster Directed by Dean Valentino There’s no such thing as a secret in Stewiacke. Vi, Rita, Mary Ellen, and Janine are all as close as can be—they are comfortable and coasting. But when Sean, a heartbroken doctor, moves in to take a temporary job, and decides to pursue Janine he tips the Maritime town that’s famous for being halfway between the North Pole and the equator off its axis. This only brings Janine closer together with her friends, who each have their own messy love lives. Can everyone find what they’re looking for in Stewiacke?
