If you are reading this congratulations may be in order? If so Congratulations on this very exciting time in your life. Since starting out on this exciting adventure to become chaplains many people have asked us why we chose to become officiants. I can't speak for my husband...yes even after twenty-three years of marriage I can only guess lol. For me, it started after meeting another husband and wife officiant team, they are the happiest and loveliest couple and reminded me of my husband and me..
My husband was a Disc Jockey for many years, I would often attend wedding shows for Music Central Entertainment and Rob the owner always took the time to not just talk to couples but was truly interested in how they met and their plans for their wedding, even if they had already booked their entertainment. Far too often I saw couples that didn't look as if they were enjoying the process, caught up in the feelings of obligations of what they felt they "should" do rather than what they "wanted" to do. I suppose I hoped that in some way I could help couples early in the planning process by reminding them that this is their day, they get to do it once when you look back at all the weddings you have attended in your life, which one stands out the most? your own? So why should it not be the way you want it? and why should it be full of stress?
Planning your day should be just as much fun as the day itself. What an honor to be asked to be part of such a special day.
