JUST ANNOUNCED: MEMPHIS JAM

The March 1st show represents the 10th appearance by the Memphis Jam at the Aeolian Music Hall.

Many people cite Memphis Tennessee as the birthplace of contemporary forms of music. Inspired by early Memphis artists, and later artists significantly influenced by the Memphis music scene, the Memphis Jam plays a range of memorable, upbeat rock n roll, funk, and blues classics. The band will also play a number of songs off of its soon to be released album titled “Love and Politics – Part I”.

The Memphis Jam, founded by Gary Lima (lead guitar and vocals) and Jeff Wright (vocals and guitar) is rounded out by Paul Fleury (bass and vocals), and Steve Malison (keyboards, sax, guitar and vocals). Sitting in on drums is Miguel Thompson. Lima toured with and/or backed such artists as: Frankie Venom of “Teenage Head”; John Mellencamp; Billy Idol; and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Fleury played in popular regional bands “Sugarfoot” and “Raising Kane” and Malison was a former member of the now infamous band “Player”. Thompson currently backs a number of popular emerging Canadian artists including King Cruff, Jag Hulligan, and Sarina Haggarty.

Come out and be prepared to rock the night away! All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Fanshawe College United Way Campaign.

Saturday, March 1st @ 7:30pm
Tickets: $25

JUST ADDED DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND - LUNCH AT ALLEN'S - THE FAREWELL TOUR: SECOND SHOW!

As the saying goes ‘all good things must come to an end’ and so it is with Lunch At Allen’s, who will embark on a country-wide Farewell Tour beginning in Atlantic Canada this October. Coming together in 2004, for what was meant to be a one-off 8-date tour presented as a song-writer’s circle, the four renowned artists discovered a soul-warming joie de vivre in performing together … and so began 20 years of camaraderie touring the country coast to coast.

Lunch At Allen’s is a musical powerhouse comprising four remarkable Canadian talents: Murray McLauchlan, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Ian Thomas. As individuals, they have written for or sung on over 25,000,000 CDs, penning hits for Josh Groban, Chicago, Bonnie Raitt, America, Santana, Cher and Rod Stewart, as well as Murray’s Farmer’s Song, Marc’s Marina Del Rey and Ian’s Painted Ladies, just to name a few. These three artists have come together adding the incredible voice of Cindy Church (Quartette, Great Western Orchestra) to form Lunch At Allen’s. Attending their stage show is to embark on an intimate musical journey replete with laughter and personal anecdotes, familiar favourites and new material, fashioning an unforgettable evening’s entertainment …from their hearts …to your soul.

“You would be hard pressed to find another Canadian ensemble with more collective depth of influence over Canada’s musical landscape than Lunch At Allen’s.” – The Beat Magazine

JUST ANNOUNCED: MOULETTES

Moulettes are one of UK’s most unique touring bands and are steadily being singled out from the wave of apparent Bjork & Kate Bush influenced Indie/alt Folk bands that have arisen this decade.

Renowned for their breathtaking live shows it is clear that few bands have the creative range and work ethic of Moulettes. With a brave approach to production and arrangement Moulettes look for peculiar ways of blending acoustic and electric instruments; For example, by putting Bassoons and stringed instruments through pedals and valve amps. They weave several genres with Cello, Violins, Guitars, Drums, Bassoon, Double bass, brass and synths into an incomparable pop/rock/folk Universe. Exercising both delicacy and fierceness, female Songwriter and Cellist Hannah Miller creates an otherworldly framework in which fantastical characters move bewteen the realms of Nature, Magic and Science. The band also contains a mix of self taught and classically trained multi-instrumentalists and singers who will often play more than one instrument per song and even at the same time. All members have shared the stage and studio with well known artists in Folk, Prog, pop and Rock, including Mick Jagger, Nick Cave, Seasick Steve, Bonobo, Gentle Giant, Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Bellowhead, The Levellers and many more.

JUST ANNOUNCED: FRASER TEEPLE: "WE BUILT A FIRE" ALBUM RELEASE

Shaped by two decades of work as a climbing arborist, Fraser Teeple approaches music like a tradesman: he respects the strong tradition he stands within, and works carefully and with dedication to master the skill of telling a story, creating an image, or crafting a melody.

His economy and sensitivity as a songwriter are driven home with a textured voice that can cut through an east-end dive bar or soulfully creak out a heart-breaker to a still concert hall.

He has apprenticed in bars, coffee shops, and music venues across Canada and Europe — and has become a soundtrack for driving down a dirt road, renovating a house, and burning driftwood on a northern beach.

His latest album, We Built a Fire, sees Fraser collaborate with producer Matthew Johnston to create a record that is at once ethereal and rooted, dirty and clean. Something that feels built in the tradition of songwriters like Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Springsteen, but sounds completely like itself: northern, soulful, gritty, rural, well-traveled, honest, desperate, hurt, generous, hopeful, warm.
