Whisk catering is looking for part time/to full time Sous Chef
Wednesday-Sunday
10:00Am 5 pm
Mostly weekend shifts.
Some evenings
Main work duties would include food prep ,making salads, appetizers, and party trays.
Must have at least 2 years experience in a fast paced kitchen in a similar role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, in fluent English.

Ability to lead and train a team.
Team-oriented, motivated, clean and organized.
Able to adapt in difficult situations and handle pressure.
Can complete detail-oriented work in a skilled and timely manner.
Has an eagerness and capacity to learn.
Education and Experience:
A Culinary Education is an asset.
Level 1 FoodSafe, Safe Food Handling or BASICS.fst Food Handler Certificate.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs safely and must be able to stand for very long periods of time.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Passion for the kitchen and for producing quality products every day.
You must be able to perform calmly and efficiently during high volume peak periods.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and a be a fast learner.
Willing to perform tasks such as cleaning, dishwashing and garbage handling.
Must work well within a catering team culture.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hr.
Expected hours: 18 – 35 per week

I’m trying really hard not to brag!

Chaser is in the shop helping prepare our family meal.
Our Hoilday dinners are often not traditional .
By the time I make our dinner, I am turkey, ham, roastbeef ,scolloped potato ,fatigued!
We usually enjoy a hybrid mishmash dinner , celebrating several other cultural cuisines.
Our Easter menu consisted of
Buffalo kabobs- seasoned Peruvian style
Venison kabobs -seasoned South African style
Pork tenderloin-bbq
Roasted cauliflower,broccoli- seasoned Korean Style
Seafood Cioppino- one of my favourite dishes from San Francisco
Nasi Goreng - Rice dish rooted in Indonesia
Layered sweet potato and leek- this one is just made up
And all the ugly Yorkshire that didn’t make it to my clients table, and were definitely not photo worthy!
As I watched my boys eat the meal, I see them stuffing the Yorkshire with the rice, and kabob …… hmmmm well now that might be a fun appetizer!

It doesn’t seem to matter how many times I make a Yorkshire or prime rib …I still get a wee bit nervous.
So I pray …a lot!
The Kitchen is my Church …
The milk crate is my pew.
I sit and pray to the food gods…(sometimes plead)!
This weekend I prayed to the prime rib gods , and the Yorkshire spirits.
It goes something like this….
Please let the Yorkshire be fluffy and crisp…please don’t fall ….. please watch over my staff , don’t let them open the oven…. Aunty Flo I know you are watching from above, I’m counting on you!
There’s a lot of pressure when you are making a meal for someone’s special occasion. We want it to be perfect.
I know how hard we all work for our money, and it must be done just right.
I am also acknowledge the meal will be shared by loved ones and friends making new memories.
I want the love we put into preparing the meal to be felt.
I am always honored to be a part of it.

Last weekend, while I was away volunteering at the BC Winter Games, my mom suffered a heart attack. It was a moment of great distress for me, being away from home and unable to be by her side. However, I am immensely grateful for the presence and quick thinking of my sister, Shannon Fell
Shannon's first aid knowledge and swift actions undoubtedly played a crucial role in saving our momma’s life. Not only did she provide immediate assistance and support during the emergency, but she also managed to juggle between hospital transfers, and surgery , the responsibilities at Whisk.
I am in awe of Shannon's strength and determination. Despite the challenging circumstances, she ensured that our business continued to run smoothly, fulfilling orders and organizing our staff effectively. Our clients received their products on time, and the quality of service remained impeccable, thanks to Shannon's dedication and hard work.
I am relieved to share that my mom is now home, recovering well. It is moments like these that truly highlight the value of family.
I wanted to take this opportunity to express my admiration and appreciation for Shannon and to thank her for being the pillar of strength that our family needed in this challenging situation. I am forever grateful for our amazing family who rallied together to see mom thru this.

Job description: Two part-time positions available, Monday to Friday, approximately 7:00 am-12:30 pm and 12:30 pm-6:00 pm, with some evening and weekend shifts also available.
Must have a reliable, clean minivan or SUV, valid full driver's license (no N or graduated license allowed), Bluetooth wireless technology for safe driving, upbeat and positive attitude with customer service mentality, ability to safely carry 40 lbs, experience with deliveries in the region required.
Wages are 21.00 per hour plus gas allowance .

Apparently I’m out of practice 😆
Some poor sucker was always assigned this job at Christmas Brunch , usually the newest in-law !
I don’t think anyone liked it much … except me. For me it was magical ❤️
It meant that I got to stand right next to my granny while she flipped perfectly cooked fried eggs from a cast iron pan. (This takes real talent!)
Chase was a little nervous this morning, asked if the toaster from the 1920’s was safe , thought it might be a fire hazard!!
