My Aurora Experience in Whitehorse, Yukon
Seeing the aurora borealis had been one of my lifelong dreams, and I finally made it come true in Whitehorse, Yukon.
I stayed in a cozy log cabin tucked away in complete darkness—no streetlights, no restaurants, no gas stations—just pure wilderness. From the window of my room, I could watch the northern lights dance across the night sky. It was the perfect setting.
The lodge offered an all-inclusive stay with three delicious meals a day, daytime tours, and airport transfers. During my six-night stay, I relied on an aurora app and was lucky enough to witness the aurora on three nights.
Every evening at 10 p.m., the staff would light a large bonfire in front of the lodge and welcome us with warm hot chocolate. They also patiently taught us how to photograph the aurora and adjust our camera settings. Thanks to their guidance, even as a complete beginner, I was able to capture beautiful photos using just my iPhone.
I’ll never forget the moment the first faint green light appeared among the countless stars. Slowly, it grew brighter and began to move gracefully across the sky.
On the last night, the aurora shone its brightest, lasting nearly 50 minutes. I was so mesmerized while taking pictures that time seemed to pass in an instant.

私のオーロラ体験 in ホワイトホース、ユーコン
長年の夢だったオーロラを見に、カナダのホワイトホースへ行ってきました。
私が滞在したのは、街灯もレストランもガソリンスタンドもない、真っ暗な大自然の中に建つログハウス。部屋の窓からオーロラが見えるという、まさに理想の場所でした。
このロッジは三食付き、昼間のアクティビティツアー付き、空港送迎付きのオールインクルーシブタイプ。滞在中はオーロラアプリを頼りに空を見上げ、6泊のうち3夜でオーロラに出会うことができました。
夜10時になると、ロッジの前ではスタッフが大きなボーンファイヤーに火を灯し、温かいホットチョコレートで迎えてくれます。
また、オーロラの撮影方法やカメラ設定の仕方も丁寧に教えてくれて、初心者の私でもiPhoneで美しいオーロラを撮影することができました。
満天の星の下、空にうっすらと緑の光が現れた瞬間の感動は、今でも忘れられません。
光は次第に濃くなり、ゆっくりと空を舞い始めます。
最も強く現れた最後の夜には、なんと50分もの間オーロラを眺めることができました。夢中でシャッターを切るうちに、時間が経つのも忘れてしまいました。
