Membertou Trade and Convention Centre is Cape Breton’s premiere meeting and convention facility. We are located in Membertou, a Mi'kmaq community just minutes from downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia. Our largest room, the Great Hall, can seat up to 850 people theatre style and 550 banquet style. As a concert venue, our Great Hall produces excellent acoustics, with concert sound & lighting. Located within our building is Kiju’s Restaurant. (Kiju means “mother” in the Mi’kmaq language). As one of the top 10 restaurants in Sydney, what we have to offer at Kiju's can be summed up in three words: Fresh. Fresh, because our Chef incorporates fresh ideas, uses fresh ingredients, and creates fresh house made meals that would make Kiju proud. Local, because at all times, at least 40% of our ingredients are sourced from local Nova Scotia suppliers. This percentage is much higher in the Summer and Fall months. As we welcome 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible year we had, particularly the unforgettable celebration for Chief Terry Paul’s 40th year as Chief of Membertou. This event was a showcase of seamless communication, exceptional service, and the dedication of our 50 staff members that were staffed that evening. Shaun Zwarun and his team managed the kitchen with precision, while the technical lighting and audio provided by NovaStream transformed the evening into a visual and auditory masterpiece. We were confident in the meticulous attention to detail provided by Darcy and his team, ensuring every moment was perfect.

To celebrate Chief Terry’s remarkable career and encourage Indigenous students to explore education in medicine, the Chief Terry Paul Leadership Award was established at Cape Breton University. This endowed award, the first of its kind at CBU, will provide financial support to a Mi'kmaq student enrolled at Cape Breton's/Unima'ki’s first medical campus. The amount raised for this award was $250,000.

The evening featured extraordinary performances and contributions from numerous vendors and entertainers.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to City Print + JR Mahoney, Maureen Barrington with Cape Breton University, DM Bartending Services, Cape Breton Beverages, Shawna Walters Stage Management and Maire Nevell, Sean Dinnish with Membertou Security, Anita Clemens Photography Shane Wilkie Photography and Steve Wadden Photography, Trinity's Florals and all the incredible entertainers who contributed to the night’s success.
