Eagleview Barn

Eagleview Barn is a landmark in the making! Beginning in 2019, Ron and Robyn Eagle will commence construction of Eagleview Barn, which will provide a unique and inviting venue for retailers, makers and artisans alike to show and sell their wares. It will serve as a creative hub for the community.

The Eagles have purchased old, forgotten barns from around Eastern Ontario that will be painstakingly taken down in order to preserve the timbers. The Main Barn will be built in accordance with current building code, but the interior will be clad with the salvaged materials to provide a welcome feeling to the spaces. The Barn will serve as a reminder of the important role barns had in the growth and culture of Eastern Ontario.

Eagleview Barn will be an event venue for the Community. Located at the south end of Merrickville and easily accessed off St. Lawrence Street. The bank-style Barn will measure 36’wide by 102’ long and provide accessible and versatile spaces for rent year round. The covered south-facing porch and landscaped grounds will also be used for seasonal events. There will be a silo - the Gordon Beck Observation Deck, which will provide visitors with an ‘eagle view’ of the surrounding area.

Eagleview Barn will become a destination for young and old alike. It will serve as a landmark to remind us of our agricultural past and be built in keeping with historical character of the Village.

Ron is a well-known carpenter/contract in the Merrickville area. He is well respected and much sought after for a variety of construction jobs. He and Andrew Phillips have been providing quality work and guaranteed service for over 15 years. Ron’s attention to detail and commitment to his clients is well respected.

Ron was born and raised in Merrickville. A local guy who is in constant motion from sun up to sun down. He came up with the Barn Adventure idea in the summer of 2018, after visiting The Local in Bloomingfield. He was quite inspired by the idea of an old barn in the Village of Merrickville, but more by the idea of creating a local gathering space for Merrickvillians. He fondly states, “it’s something for Robyn to do in her retirement!”.

Robyn first came to Merrickville in 1986 and owned a hobby farm just outside of town. After the Ice Storm in 1998, she moved into the Village where she raised Emma and Eric and began crafting and creating wooden ‘bits’ and signs. She has and continues to volunteer for a number of events and activities in the Village and looks forward coordinating events and activities at Eagleview.

We will be posting the progress of Eagleview Barn. Stay tuned! We are hoping to provide you with a lil’ history of the past as Ron demolishes these beautifully crafted barns and works to give them another life in Merrickville.

Many thanks to Jonah Robinson and his team for helping to clear the land. We finally hired a professional after attempting to cut down and chip the buckthorn from the land ourselves. We will be hiring local contractors for the build and will be asking for your feedback throughout the build to ensure Eagleview fits the needs of our community.
