Rock and Bowl Sessions is proud to announce the first artist of the 2024/2025 season Derek Forbes Former Bassist of Simple Minds on Mar 30th.

Derek was instrumental in the Simple Minds sound that brought the band to world wide success. Derek has also played with Propaganda (Band) The Alarm Big Country

Derek was voted 'Best Bass Player in the World' in 1982, and 'Best International Bass Player' in a music poll in Australia, the same year. he was also voted 'Best Bass Player in UK'. In 2009, Forbes was voted 'Scotland's Greatest Ever Bassist' by the readers of Dear Scotland.

Earlier this year Derek released his long-awaited autobiography "A Very Simple Mind". The Simple Minds legend known for those iconic spine-rattling bass riffs which we recognize in many Simple Minds songs. This is his story. Derek started his musical career as a lead guitarist but soon changed to bass guitar. He wrote and co-wrote many of Simple Minds earliest classics.

This is one not to miss. Due to the intimate nature of the show, you must request tickets through Private Message to be placed on a wait list. You'll be contacted when tickets officially go on sale this August to make your purchase. PLEASE NOTE: Not everyone who makes a request will be able to purchase tickets due to limited availability.
