Our primary focus of intervention is the South Asian Community with an emphasis on other diverse communities. Virsa Foundation provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services in an integrated holistic approach.We also present a platform for people to build their neighborhood and communities by volunteering and working in their own area.
We're proud to announce this year’s 2018 South Asian International Film Festival (SAiFF), a groundbreaking cinematic and entertainment extravaganza, which has already become a landmark event in Toronto and also the 'Largest' South Asian film festival in North America! For 7 exciting days, film lovers, filmmakers, industry professionals and media will attend and watch the very best in new cinema from new talent and acclaimed masters. The week-long event will run MONTH OF MAY 2018 in Toronto . With several screening locations, a team of high-profile supporters, red carpet premieres, and a slate of top-notch films, the festival will give audiences of all ages and ethnicities a chance to discover new South Asian voices and celebrate established ones. Kicking off with a feature film premiere and opening night gala, the Festival will present a select combination of full-length films, shorts, and documentaries in a variety of genres. In addition to a retrospective honoring an internationally renowned filmmaker, the Festival will attract new films from the South Asian continent (i.e. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal) and around the World. Annually, the festival is hosted by key influential South Asian leaders and prominent community members, the festival will mix in dynamic entertainment, cutting-edge social and professional mixers, and exclusive industry events with its slate of high-quality cinema programming. Brought to you by Virsa Foundation that mandate is to work with diverse communities to bring about Arts and Cultural understanding among different ethnic communities residing in Canada and globally. They also believe in enhancing capabilities of local community members to integrate into a socially cohesive society, foster multicultural value and interfaith understanding, as well as creating concrete opportunities for interaction among cultural and faith communities. This event will incorporate different South Asian communities such as: Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, Punjabi, Sir- Lanka, Tamil, Bangladesh, Gujarati and other Asian ethnic groups. These respective communities will showcase and promote their respective feature films, short films and cultural documentaries promoting Intercultural understanding and also exposing social norms of other cultures. This in turn, will also encourage integrated cultural understanding thus, enhancing the Canadian concept of multiculturalism and a “mosaic” based society.
