A customer asked me how much it would cost to make a 5-minute video.

Me: $450

Customer: That's too expensive, and it's only 5 minutes long!

Me: How much do you think it would cost you?

Customer: $150 maximum. It’s easy, right? You just have to combine some videos.

Me: Hmm, you could do it yourself then.

Customer: But I don’t know how...

Me: For $90, I can teach you. You'll save $360 and gain the knowledge you need.

Customer: Okay, that sounds good.

Me: But to get started, we need some equipment:

Laptop/PC for editing ($1,080 - $3,600) (Not the kind you use just for PowerPoint)
Software that you'll need to purchase for editing
Customer: Oh no. But I don’t have all this equipment. Do I need to buy that just for one project?

Me: Well then, for an additional $315, I'll rent you my equipment so you can do it.

Customer: Okay, fine.

Me: Okay! I'll be available on Thursday to start teaching you.

Customer: But I can't on Thursday, I only have time today.

Me: I'm sorry, but I’m only available on Thursday to teach you and lend you my equipment. Other days I’m busy with other clients.

Customer: Okay! That means I’m going to sacrifice my Thursday and give up my other tasks.

Me: I forgot to mention, you also have to pay for the non-productive factors.

Customer: Really? What are those?

Me: Internet connection, power, etc.

Customer: $90 for teaching, $315 for renting the equipment, only $45 more for you to do it. I might as well pay a bit more for you to handle it.
