Earlier this month the delphinium in my first year perennial plants produced a load of gorgeous long stems. I filled up one of my big clay pots with everything leftover from the week of florist work. I often spend time each week trying to push my design skills to the next level. I’m looking back from the past 18 months of work and feel like my design style and eye for color pallet is expanding.

This spring I prepped 7 new flower rows to plant perennials and start annuals. I’m very pleased with all the beauty it brings to me each morning I head out to cut flowers. And, I spend time weeding and pinching loads of plants, so there is always plenty to do in the field.

Designing with flowers that I grow on the farm feels like magic. All the stems in this design were grown in my flower field in Appledale, BC. Despite being 7kms south of a few major wildfires and evacuations of many of our good friends and neighbours, flowers still lift the mood.
