A little BTS from this beautiful wedding last year. Though I’m convinced just takes my picture to see this face and hear all curses I say to him after the fact.

Regardless of my feelings for having my photo taken (especially midsummer when it’s hotter than Hades outside), you can often find me lighting candles, setting out final touches on place settings and doing a final walk through the reception space before guests arrive (as seen here).

Recently engaged? Use these 3 tips to start planning your wedding.

1. Set Your Budget- You really can’t start planning until you know how much you have to work with. Have the hard conversations with anyone that might be contributing so you can realistically plan your day.

2. Set Your Guest List- Your budget is directly tied to your guest list. Write out everyone you want to have and then take a look against your budget to see if it’s realistic. Knowing how many people you want will help you set expectations

3. Set Your Priorities- What are you must haves for your day? What are you willing to spend more on and what are you willing to compromise on? Knowing what is important will help you find vendors that match your budget.

4. Hire Your Wedding Planner- but we thought this was a given 😉

“We worked with Alex as a day of coordinator, and truly it was the best decision we made. It cannot be understated having someone whoknkows how weddings work, we were spending hours over thinking things and Alex helped us calm down and simplify things. She had so many great ideas, and I really appreciated having someone that could make on the spot decisions for us on the day so I wasn’t being asked a million questions. She connected all the vendors and everything went so smooth, especially considering the extreme wind we got haha. Thanks Alex!!!!”

The excitement and anticipation of a new season always gets me. It’s the reminder of why I love my job. Bringing together all the details, watching the day unfold and seeing another season of beautiful weddings for amazing couples.

While I can’t know for sure what this season will bring, I do know each wedding will be filled with laughter, joy and love.
