It will be a great place to try a triathlon for the first time or goal for summer training. We offer a mildly challenging and very safe circuit that is 95 % closed to vehicle traffic. Triathlon registration will be capped at 80 and will close once we reach that number in order to allow time to get everyone through the race. All participants registered by 15 Aug will receive a race t-shirt. There will be no race day registrations. Race kit pick-up and transition will remain open throughout the morning and each racer will need to be signed in at least an hour prior to their wave start. Individual triathlon relay start times will be emailed or posted the day before the race. The base gym has change rooms, showers, and lockers available. There is also ample parking space for athletes and spectators. Family and friends are welcome to watch. Transition zone will be 150 meters to the north of the gym on a paved road. It will be open by 0630 hrs and will remain open remain open throughout the morning so that competitors can rack their bikes prior to their run or swim. Please note that the transition area will be controlled to avoid possible collision between racers and those showing up at various times to rack their bikes and get ready to race. The swim will be held in the base gym 25 meter pool. We will require your anticipated swim time to make up start waves. Wave start times will be posted the evening before the race. First wave will be super print distance at 0700 hrs. Bike course. The bike course will consist of three laps all on the base with shallow climbs and descents incorporating six 90 deg turns and two 180 deg turns. You can expect two long fast descents on the way out, a few flat and straight sections in the middle, and some shallow climbs to slow you down on the way back. The course will be closed to traffic except for one intersection that will be guarded. Run course. The junior triathlon run, the try-a-tri run, and the duathlon second run will consist of a 2.5 km loop that starts with a 1 km roadside section before turning back into the forest towards the gym on a groomed trail with a few short a shallow climbs. The sprint triathlon run and sprint duathlon first run consist of a 5 km loop that is 80% groomed trail with a short roadside section. You can expect mostly flat terrain with one long moderate climb approx 2/3 into the run. You’ll want to keep an energy reserve for that climb. The trail finishes with a ½ right hand loop around the 400 meters track before crossing the timing mats. There will be a water point at the ½ way point. You will have nice flat ground to put on a hard finishing sprint while your friends and family cheer you on. Medals will be presented to the top three male and female racers for the sprint triathlon, sprint duathlon, team sprint triathlon, and team sprint duathlon. Medals will also be presented to the top male and female racers for the junior under 16, junior 16-19, and try-a-tri. There will also be several participation prizes drawn out at the end of the event. Make sure you stick around for the awards presentation and draw prizes after the race! Remember this event is open to military and civilians, train safe, train hard, and see you on race day!
