Friday was a blast. A show I am very proud of. All of the artists excelled at what they do. opened it up and played their asses off.
and his band of killers (anyone recognize any of them? or was that just me?) set a high bar for the rest of the night, super tight, super pro. You will hear from koster again.
what a treat. Great guy, great music. we had a good conversation about how dope Kool Keith is and what our favourite records were of his. its a rare treat for me to do down a hip hop rabbit hole with someone, let alone a JunoTM winner/indie darling. check out his record "beautiful music" I saw a few copies go out the door on Friday and if you missed it I know Will at Kops Records - Oshawa has a few copies in stock.
such an intense performance. I have been a fan of Lee's work for I guess 23 years. The story he told about the first time he played was a show i did with his old group warsawpack. i cant recommend his art enough.
thanks to Ben and Jesse for making all of this happen with a wild idea born of a collaboration of like minded artists. Its going to be the last Rules run for a while so thanks for coming out to bear witness.

July 3rd 2002.
You can tell how old this is because of how low Protest the Hero is on the bill.
And that The Reason were still Sewing with Nancie. They probably played Dave Steib and crushed it. The Reason eventually became labelmates with Choke on smallman.
Choke are playing two shows with Protest the Hero this week in venues far larger than the hole in the ground that was the dungeon. but it makes me feel good to be part of both of their stories.

Some kids coming in the door told me that they saw them on the side of the highway broken down in their first van.

I was yelling into a microphone while Tom Lamphier Evan Rose and Paul Kostka played music. I put us on some great shows. We were pretty okay.

I'm back. Been a while. I've missed you.
So 15 or so years later I am back in Oshawa with some gas still left in the tank.
Stay tuned for my first show announcement in well over a decade. It's going to be a fun one.
In the meantime I know a lot of people have a lot of memories of shows they saw of mine. I don't. My memory is trash. So, if anyone has any photo's, video's or has memories of some crazy shows and insane nights please share.
