Thanksgiving at the Brooklin Farmers Market Saturday October 12th will include Dahlia Bunches, Mason Jars, Table Vases, Dried Flower pumpkins and more!

With the low over night temperatures during the last week, and the chance of frost this week, our dahlia production has slowed down considerably!

We decided to delay pre-orders until harvest day later in the week to ensure we don't disappoint.

If you have already ordered, don't worry. We will definitely have dahlia bunches on market day. We just don't know how many yet!

Today's harvest for tomorrow's Brooklin Farmers market... The dahlias are still with us!

Saturday Oct 5th and Thanksgiving weekend Oct 12th will mark the end of the season for the Floral Farmer.

We will be taking pre-orders of dahlia bunches for Thanksgiving weekend 2 ways:

You can drop by our booth to order tomorrow or shop online at www.thefloralfarmer.com beginning Monday to place your order.

We will also have bunches available at the market on Saturday Oct 12th.

We are busy this week preparing for the Brooklin Harvest Festival this Saturday September 21st!

Fall Ranunculus Update Sept 2nd

Well it couldn't have been the worst time to plant these out with the heat we've had over the last few weeks.

Under shade cloth for most of the time, today I could finally take it off as the cooler days begin now.

Lost some, others looking sad, but still some decent ones among the bunch.

Let's see how they do in the next few weeks!

Fall ranunculus update:

Ranunculus are a spring crop here in Ontario but this season I couldn't get all the corms in on time. After reading about trial I decided to see if I could sprout these in July. I planted them August 11th and the forecasted temperatures were around 22C.

We had a heat wave instead. I used a shade cloth the entire week then came the rain. Lots of it! I worried about the corms rotting.

Here we are today and they seem to be doing ok. Temperatures should be in the low 20's for the next few weeks. Will they bloom for me in October? 90 Days. Will they be short and have thick stems? I'll keep you posted!
