It's official, our next event will be Saturday Sept 21st 2024!!!

I have decided to try something completely different this year. For the first time ever, I am combining the Oshawa Video Game Show with another event. We will be joining the City of Oshawa's Convergence Festival!

This is a huge outdoor event that takes place throughout the core of downtown Oshawa. It's held on the street and features multiple attractions including 3x stages of live music, wrestling, food trucks, a punk rock flea market, and more!

So there are some MAJOR changes here:

1. This is an OUTDOOR event - meaning: the new location for this year's show is literally on the street King St, Downtown Oshawa.

2. Not only will you get to browse 1000s of Video Games, Consoles, and related merch. You will ALSO get to shop Card Dealers, Art Dealers, Toy Vendors, Comic Vendors, and a full Punk Rock Flea Market who will also be at the show.

3. As this is a large scale city event, admission and parking is FREE!!!

4. Because this is such a larger event, Cosplay is HEAVILY encouraged as there's such a bigger opportunity to show off your work. We will also be coordinating to organize a contest with Cash prizes!

Huge THANK YOU to everyone that came out to our Video Game show yesterday! It was a resounding success! Everyone was in high spirits and the energy in the room all day was fantastic! We packed the venue full of merchandise and you helped pack the hall full of people. And thank you to The Oshawa Markets for hosting. We will DEFINITELY be back next year.

We're located at the Oshawa Markets right off of the 401, Bloor St, and Simcoe St. Look for bright neon signs to direct you once you enter the main doors of the Oshawa Markets building. There's TONS of free onsite parking. There are onsite ATMs as well as a full food court that runs all day.

**MAJOR UPDATE**

This is Justin, the owner and operator of Fly By Nite in Oshawa. I was the former manager of the Port Hope Drive In for almost 10 years and current friend to the owner. I was also responsible for building both this page and the Drive In’s website.

Unfortunately the Port Hope Drive In has been forced to close due to several years of poor business. This downward trend started before the COVID pandemic, but absolutely plummeted when the Drive In couldn’t even operate for large periods of time (during lockdowns) + the unavailability of new movies for an entire season crippled the business. There was hope the business would recover, however it’s clear now that won’t be the case. The theater business is in its last days right now. COVID lockdowns forced people to rely on streaming platforms more and more for entertainment. As the content became readily available, people became accustomed to staying in rather than going out to see their movies. This has resulted in poor box office attendance that continues to worsen. Additionally, the high cost of living and insane spikes in gas prices reduced the frequency of visits people would take to the Drive In each season. Sales and attendance continued to worsen over the last few years to the point where there is no longer enough revenue to cover the basic costs of operation.

Rather than let this page fade away, I have decided to repurpose it for my current business activities. I am not trying to trick or deceive anyone into following my business when you’re looking for the Drive In page. I absolutely encourage you to unfollow / unsubscribe to this page and its future posts if what you want is Port Hope Drive In information. This page will now be under my Fly by Nite business banner. Specifically, a new part of my business called Fly by Nite Events. After leaving the Drive In to open my store in Oshawa, I began running small events in the Durham area. The Drive In was always a big supporter of these events as its primary audience came from this region. The exposure from the Durham events was always a positive for the Drive In, which didn’t advertise at all. The owner graciously dedicated his time and energy helping to plan / figure out the logistics for these shows. I plan to not only continue running these local shows, but increase the number + variety of them in the coming year if the support / patronage from the community is there.

I know this is not the news you wanted to read. It’s sad news for all. These are the unfortunate casualties from a nationwide recession.

IT'S BAAAAAAAACK!

Once again, we will be sponsoring this event!

The Oshawa Video Game Show is officially returning Saturday October 21st 2023 with a brand new venue! The Oshawa Markets located at 555 Simcoe St S, Oshawa. This new venue affords has several new upgrades:

-HUGE Free On Site Parking Lot
-Multiple On Site ATMs
-Full Food Court
-Even closer to the 401 than before
-TWICE the space!!!

For the first time in years the Oshawa Video Game Show is GROWING! With our new larger venue we are increasing our overall table count from 50 to 66! The larger space will also allow us to DOUBLE our aisle widths, something we constantly struggled with at our old venue.
