It was such an honour to be part of this beautiful event. Thank you Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall/L'archidiocèse d'Ottawa-Cornwall for the opportunity to gather together in prayer and remembrance of our babies lost in miscarriage or in infancy.

On Oct 19th, our diocese gathered in the quiet pews of Annunciation parish and watched 191 names pass across the screen. Each name was a child lost, a child who was part of this community and a member of the universal church. After a minute of silence, the diocesan Mass of Remembrance for children lost through miscarriage or in infancy began.

Le 19 octobre, les fidèles de l’archidiocèse se sont recueillis en silence sur les bancs de la paroisse Annunciation tandis que défilaient 191 noms à l’écran. Chaque nom évoquait un enfant disparu, à la fois membre de notre communauté et de l’Église universelle. Après une minute de silence, la messe diocésaine de commémoration des deuils périnataux a commencé.

Next to a bride’s bouquet my favourite item to design is the groom’s boutonnière. It’s always slightly different from the other boutonnières and includes some of the same elements as the bridal bouquet.

Fun fact, this beautiful bride told me the groom’s boutonnière is now a magnet on their fridge. (Magnetic boutonnières for the win 🙌🏻). Most of the stems dried well and they edited out the ones that wilted. Such a fun and lovely way to incorporate a wedding detail into daily life. 🥰

Welcome to The Flower Pantry!

It’s been a while since I shared a proper introduction. My name is Anna Freeman. My husband and I have called Orleans home for four years. I’m the owner of The Flower Pantry, a small business that I operate alongside my full time role of homemaking and homeschooling our four kids, who range in ages 3-12. Life is full and fun over here. ☺️

The Flower Pantry turns two years old this month. 🎉🎉 For the first year and a half I did all my floral work out of my kitchen and laundry room and it was as hectic as it sounds. The past few months I’ve enjoyed using my newly completed home studio. I’ve had the opportunity to design florals for several weddings and other special events, provide countless seasonal arrangements, and deliver flowers to the sick and dying. Flowers have a unique way of bringing comfort and connection between people in all of life’s moments.

Beauty is something I desire in every aspect of life, in the simple and the sublime. Beauty calls us farther up and beyond ourselves, bringing meaning and restoration to weary hearts. I hope to bring greater moments of beauty and connection through my floral work.

Flower Pantry designs are inspired by the natural beauty of the changing seasons. Most of the flowers I use are ordered from an amazing local supplier. My own garden, foraging, and local flower farmers are other sources I use for beautiful blooms.

Fun facts:

🍂 fall is my favourite season - give me all the cozy blankets and sweaters

📔 reading great books to my kids is one of my favourite activities

🌾 I was born and raised in Saskatchewan

🫖 the romance and beauty of stories like Jane Austen’s novels + Anne of Green Gables are huge sources of inspiration for me

Dahlias 💜

Everything is coming together beautifully! We finished moving 8 yards of soil just in time for another 6 to be delivered 💪🏼 Wyatt built a few raised beds that we’re dedicating to our waterlily and anemone dahlias. One more field to plant and then it’s time for the seedling fields 🔥
